Is Ebay feedback of no value now?

I recently had a buyer bid on two seperate auctions (with a good feedback score) and then not bother to pay for the items. No amount of messgaes got this guy intersted in replying. He just waited out the entire unpaid item dispute.

In the end, I will be refunded the cost of the final valuation fee, but not the listing fee. Im out of pocket that. And the buyer? He gets off scott free as far as I can see. There is no place for me to give him negative feedback - I CAN give him positive feedback still. wtf?

I hadn't noticed the negative feedback is gone - but it seems to be missing all right. I can give positive on all my buyers, the only other option is to give feedback later.

yankinlk - Get with the programme! Ebay has been a farce for honest sellers for years now and the feedback issue is one of many. I still buy there but I haven't sold anything for months now. :D

If he has decent feedback score , then maybe there is a genuine reason why he has not paid for item.

As he will not communicate , it is obvious he will not complete transaction.

To answer the question you asked , - - The answer is YES , - eBay feedback is very important .

Its well known that eBay always favours the buyers , and it is frustrating to be unable to leave negative feedback.

This is what I would do :
Hit the positive feedback button and write '' Buyer did not pay - No communication - Keep away from this eBayer ''

If he does respond , then you can follow up to his feedback left in the ' Community Feedback Forum '' and once again give him more negative comments .

This buyer also has his feedback setup as "private". Never relaised you could do that - and I guess I know why now! AllI could see was that he had a high number of transactions, 140+ and that it showed 100% for feedback score...

I would consider him to be the best kind of ebayer looking at that info. Unfortunately he turns out to be a time waster - ruining two auctions. I have gotten refrunded on the final value fee for the first auction, and it looks like I will get refunded for the second auction.

It seems though that a casual glance of just the feedback score is no longer info. As a seller you are really at the mercy of whoever wins the auction - and I dont know of a better auction solution than Ebay tbh.

Has happened me twice recently. Not one bit happy they can get away with this.

That's always been the case, for buyers and sellers. Simply going on the number of feedbacks and the percentage positive, is not good enough. It's too easy for a seller to manipulate this with shill accounts, and for a buyer to manipulate in the way you've found.

The scammers normally win, because they know what they're doing, they're ahead of you and eBay, and they're good at it. By the time anyone realises they've been conned, it's normally too late to do anything about it.

I had an experience a few months ago where a buyer won two of my items but never paid. I went through the dispute process and in fairness to eBay the buyer was removed a day after the process concluded. That said, is there anything to stop the buyer re-registering under a different name and email address?

Lately, I've had two buyers who were slow with payment. In the end both paid , but I can't leave positive feedback for them due to this, which basically means that unless I follow allthedoyles advice, no one else will know. And the one thing both buyers had in common? In the messages where they finally apologised for the delayed payment, both referred to their positive feedback as a plus, apparently not realising that sellers can only leave positive feedback!

(Sorry, that last part may be better suited for ranting and raving but at least the first part moves the discussion along...)

If you do that he can have the feedback removed. You cannot leave negative feedback disguised as a positive.

So like, at what point is negative feedback an option anymore? Is it only as a buyer now?
Im finding less and less people are even bothering to leave me feedback. For the first time, ive had to email them out looking for feedback to be given. I mean, its like less than 3 in 10 bothering to leave feedback now.

Same here - less than 3 in 10 .- We think they are just not bothered .

If they knew how to navigate the eBay website , they could go to community feedback forum and leave all their feedback in one go , by using copy/paste

and whats the deal with the 5 stars thing?
I see you can get 5 stars on shipping by offering free shipping. Thats a bit of a scam really isnt it. Ebays bay of forcing you to offer free shipping so that a buyer pays MORE for the item, which increases their fees, and lessens your profit.
