It is a good way to have offline access to your e-mail like gmail. I've never played with google gears for offline access to gmail through my browser.

Try to use IMAP if possible, it's far superior to POP3

What do you all think about this??

    https://mail2web.com

Is it really a good idea to trust a 3rd party site like this with your info??

Not to resurrect a dead thread but I don't see the need for the https://mail2web.com service where your e-mail provider already has a web frontend. However for e-mail provided by ISPs then yes maybe but I'd much rather run a portable app on a flash drive if I was going to be traveling and have random internet access. http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/thunderbird_portable

I ran portable firefox and thunderbird on my camera's flash memory card while traveling around Aus a few years ago. I could go into most internet cafes and happily sync my e-mail and browse the internet with my bookmarks.
