    Hi guys,

    Was recommended these: http://biltong.ie/biltongie_products.html

But not really sure which ones to purchase as never had any experience before. Anyone on here eat any of this stuff. Does it go off quickly and which ones would you recommend.

    Thanks :)

I tried their jerky before and I found it very, very salty and quite fatty. I ordered some from myprotein (the smoked beef jerky) and it's absolutely delicious and seems to be leaner (although that could just be discrepancies in a particular batch).

You can make South Africans do tricks to get some of it.

In London it's pretty big. I LOVE the stuff, I cannot get enough of it but I have to control myself as it's expensive.

The quality always varies as it depends on the cut of meat but I like it sometimes with fat on, adds massive flavour. Fresh stuff you can get the seller to chop up is much much better than sealed and packed stuff.

Awh jeez.... now I'm going to have to get some tomorrow.

its made from natural cut of beef. So fat distribution will be very random.
I use a few brandsm and every now and again, a get a fatty piece from any brand

Looks very tempting. Do you know how long they take to deliver?

    I use the same service.

Not bad delivery times either, around a week

Possibly a dumb question but where does jerky fit into a good, clean diet plan?

I figure it's a good source of protein, right?

But is it a special treat sort of thing or could it be included in a day's meals and f up you eating plan for the week?

I've also got a question. I've never tried beef jerky but am interested in varying my diet a little and adding this instead of fruit/nuts for snacks.

I'm from close to the border and a Sainsburys closeby sells this one for around 2.40 (euro equivelant)...

Would you advise this, Yummy Meats or myProtein? I think I'll probably get Sainsburys stuff first to try it out and, if I like it, order from myProtein (their version seems to be lower calorie but higher in protein).

Looking at the nutritional info & ingredients from both Yummy Meats http://buybeefjerkyonline.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=234 & My protein http://www.myprotein.co.uk/products/beef_jerky they appear to be the same, so my guess is MP get their stuff made by the Yummy meats people. Just a guess though so I could be wrong.

good source of protein, 60% protein is not uncommon, so it's actually up there with the highest protein conten per 100g.

Brands vary and some have lots of added sugar, so these are onbiously not great, but if you find a good source, I don't see why you couldn't have it as a daily snack.
I'd consider a good source to be protein c.60%, fat and carbs as low as possible, 0-4g maybe

Thats stuff, and a lot of similar brands that target the sweets matket tend to have a lot of sugar.
That one is 25% carbs, 16% sugars.
this added sugar obviouslt drives the protein ratio down so its only 30 odd% protein.

By all means buy it once to try it and see if you like it, but if its a regular addition to your diet, find a good source.

I found it to be a little bit salty and was curious to see if it's the same across the board. The fatty part doesn't bother me in the slightest, it's all good. Anyone try their other products? The Boerewors?
