    Hello,

Father is considering purchasing a 09 / 10 reg C180 Kompressor Blue Efficiency Auto. We know its a 1.6 supercharged with the same output as the old 1.8 Kompressor.

Anyway, looking for feedback from anyone who has one or is running one as a fleet car. Curious to know if Mercedes have ironed out the electrical and mechanical issues which troubled its predecessor.

He is ideally looking at the avantgarge spec as he prefers the grille design.

    Thanks all.

A manual Merc is hard to sell on.

A petrol Merc is hard to sell on.

A petrol Merc with a manual gearbox is hard to sell on squared.

The Blue Efficiency C180 is only available with a manual box AFAIK.

Buy an automatic C220 CDI Blue Efficiency or even the less powerful C200 CDI Blue Efficiency instead. Yes I know it costs a lot more but at least you'll be left with a car that will sell easily enough when the time comes.

    Cheers for the reply Captainspeed.

Diesel is a no go and their are quite a few Auto C180 Blue Efficiency modals available.

    Thanks for the input

I thought so too, but apparently it's now available as either a 1.6 supercharged manual or a 1.8 turbocharged auto: http://www.carsuk.net/mercedes-c-180-cgi-blueefficiency-review-road-test-2010-part-2/

Edit: Scratch all that, the 1.8t auto is a diesel!

Probably because of the reasons outlined by the captain above.

OP, a petrol C180 is saleproof, even an automatic.

Why can't you have a diesel?

I'm guessing that if it's your Dad that is looking at buying he thinks diesels are still like they were back in the 90s. Make him drive a diesel one, he'll probably change his mind very quickly!

I'm sure your father will appreciate the lazy nature of a diesel where all the go is at low revs very quickly once he tries a diesel. The other thing is that a Blue Efficiency diesel automatic is in band C for taxation whereas the petrol is in band D or more likely band E, and these days with 89.2% of new cars in bands A-C a band D or higher is very undesirable.

You should beg, borrow or steal the extra money for the diesel, in the long run you'll be glad you chose the oil burner!

    CaptainSpeed,

Many thanks for the reply... again!!!!!

We will see haw things settle out but no interest in a diesel at all at the moment.

He may wait until new year and see what the trade in market holds.

    Thanks again.
