Todayfm app always losing signal during the ray Darcy show. It has my head wrecked. If I get 5 mins without the signal going I'm doing well. Anything I can do to fix it?

All apps use an audio stream the same as any other radio stream you'll find elsewhere online. Some stations may have dedicated streams for apps and webs other stations will use the same stream for web sites and mobile apps.

Many stations will have a maximum number of streams that they can provide at any one time. It may well be possible that the popularity of a show on any station means that they are maxing out their streaming capacity. At the time of writing, Today FM have 1,443 listening to their 32k stream and 1,190 to the 64k stream. This is almost 10 times the number listening to newstalk or FM104 (figures from Winamp). That's a lot of online listenership and capacity to provide.

Alternatively, it could be network congestion or that between 9 and 12 you happen to be in an area of poor network coverage.

There are a few variables to be eliminated.

Well I am using the low quality stream as I don't have wifi. I have 1 to 2 bars of 3GS Internet on Meteor.

It's bloody head wrecking. One of the reasons I upgraded to an iPhone is so I could have a good radio for work.

A lot to be said for the good old fashioned FM tuner!

Of course, Apple would be loathe to put one on given the amount of free advertising that they get from radio stations worldwide.
