White internal doors

Thinking of going with white interior doors. From looking around it's mostly wooden doors i.e. unpainted doors with only an odd white door in displays. Do people buy plain doors and have them painted or do some places have large selections of already painted doors. I know this sounds a bit silly.

    Hiya,

We have gone with white painted doors also and it was a nightmare trying to find ones already painted at a decent price. If you are looking for a shaker style I know the the have finished ones in Cork Builder Providers, you could give them a ring just to find out who makes them. You will also find that a lot of the already painted ones are fire doors so therefore more expensive and heavy. There is an Irish company called Doras that do a range of white doors.
We went down the route of buying unfinished doors so we have had to prime and paint them ourselves and it is very time consuming. If I was to do it again I would defo try to buy finished doors and then touch up any damaged paint work once they were fitted.
Also try Carrolls Door store, we got a fantastic deal on unfinished semi solid Oak doors that did paint up brilliantly.

Thanks for the advice. I think the only place I'd really seen them was in Cork Builder Providers. We'll have to consider the costs of same etc. At this stage with the budget I'd consider leaving off the internal doors for a few years but can't really be doing that.

Can't rem the price but you buy them separately and pick your hinges and handles separately.

Yeah bought white doors about a year ago too, i wouldnt send you to who i bought them from cos they weren't cheap but i ended up clawing some money back by buying the handles, locks & hinges on the net. Not here to drop names but just google door handles, i think there are only 2 proper Irish sites and it quickly becomes apparent which one of these pride better value. If you can't find them drop me a message and i'll point you to who i dealt with.

Hi Roryhy, I found the company alright, looks very good, my only reservation would be are they good quality? for example, the brass finish; are they made of brass or is it just brass paint coated? Much appreciated!

Well i can only speak from experience and i didnt buy brass. What i did buy was surprisingly high quality, i only paid 11.99 a pair for handles and they were everybit as good as handles i saw for €30-40 elsewhere! When i was buying i asked about quality, returns, refunds etc., and what he said was that he would stand over everything he sells for a year, no questions asked refund or exchange. This was about a year ago and there have been no issues. Just get in touch, im sure you'll have your questions answered.
