If anyone is looking for a viable alternative to Chemistdirect have a look at 'http://www.pharmacy2u.co.uk/' however they where charging me around £18 sterling delivery for my order and I found the website poor.

However if you order via their Amazon shop delivery worked out at only £7.50 for a £80 order. (also notice most of the negative feedback is actually where customers never got back to them in relation to who/what the medicine was for.)

I ordered on Sunday night (26th), had to reply to an email yesterday after lunch (27th) stating what the medicine was for and took delivery today 28th by courier.

I'll never go back to Chemist Direct:P

I just ordered off them on Friday and received the order on Monday, Delivery was £6.32 via their website.
    Far better than Chemistdirect imo.

i placed my first order there last week,
order due in a couple of days,
    some reasonable prices,
( ill update when i get delivery )

free carriage on 80 euro order;),
even on smaller orders postage is very reasonable:)

(had an absolute nightmare with chemist direct, supplied about 10% of an order with full postage.)

Guys how much of a saving is there to be had from these online chemists?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,248 ✭✭✭Qwerty?

Depends on what you are buying, one multivitamin we were ordering were £5 online and €11 here. Another Eczema cream was €3 cheaper online, even though it is made in Sligo .

Some things were only slightly cheaper. Obviously check prices to see if there is a saving including postage.

I just checked out some products we'd use and first impressions are it is expensive, I have got a few orders from chemist direct in the past, there was a great saving on royal canin compared to here so if I ordered 2 bags of that I had my free delivery straight away. Admittedly I had to wait 3 weeks to get it but it came eventually!

Unfortunately I tried to place an order last week and was being quoted £30 for delivery on a £150 order, £80 was 2 15kg bags of dogfood, the rest was lighter toiletries and meds, this definitely wiped out any savings I think.

Don't want to be a killjoy here but be careful. Far as I know its illegal to buy certain drugs online from abroad - personally im in 2 minds as to whether it's a good idea or not. Many of the online companies are selling fakes altough Im not suggesting that either of the 2 companies previously mentioned are.

Does anyone know if any of these online chemists are still shipping aerosols to Ireland?

I used to buy both Lynx and Impulse deodorants by the boxload from Chemist Direct. It worked out at nearly half the price they cost here.

But now Chemist Direct say they can no longer ship aerosols to Ireland.

Mid August i had an ear infection, had it before and took Amoxycillin (Anti Biotic) which cleared it up in no time.

So i goes to the doctor, €50 and he gave me a script for Amoxycillin, another €25.

Went to Greece a week later, went into the pharmacy for some headache pills and got chatting to her, they sold Amoxycillin over the counter, cost €3.20 for pack of 18 so i bought 3 packs, expiry date of 3 years.

Not so much a BA but if you or anyone else is going to Greece may be worth while them picking up a box or 2 as it's an awesome general antibiotic

Asda have an online pharmacy - linky. There are savings to be made but you need to factor in the exchange rate and postage costs.

In relation to postage/shipping costs they don't have a fixed or set price for delivery to Ireland but just pop the items into the basket and the shipping charges will show up at the checkout before you confirm the order.

Nope no where in the UK will send aerosols to Ireland. It's illegal to send them via international post apparently. I tried to buy a sun protection spray online from there this summer. The ebay seller sent it via airmail but customs returned it as it was an aerosol. They then tried sending it via slower mail on a ferry marking it only as cosmetics and that was also returned to them as it was xrayed at the port and deemed not suitable for passage on the ferry!

Eventually her sister brought it to Ireland and put it in the post for me here. She badly wanted my €5.50 :D

I'd say stock up at xmass while Lynx and Impulse and the like have half price gift sets out. Tesco already have quite a few half price.

I used chemistdirect.co.uk previously, they supply the NHS & insist on a perscription (original) sent to them with your order # wrtten on the top.

Their postage went up to £30, so I have just after using natcol.co.uk. They require the same thing - perscription with order # on top posted to them before they send you the script.

Both are very strict about this & are registered, operating the UK & regulated there as well. In fact I believe natcol was set up in conjunction with the British government.

I would prefer to spend my money in the Irish republic, but the price difference is too great for perscriptions.

There is a TV programme scheduled this week about the dangers of buying meds online. I do not believe it will menion either of these establishments I have just mentioned.

I ordered a 6-mth batch of Zoton from both - a gut acid surpresion med. Both orders were fulfilled with what I expected, branded quality med. Anyone whos says it's not simply doesn't know what they are talking about but likes to offer an opinion IMHO.

Without wishing to drag the thread off topic Id imagine the medicines would be the lot you see advertised in all the spam that is sent from places in Asia and Canada.
