Have a copy of the Northrop Aeronautical Institute "Aircraft Maintenance and Repair" book from 1955. It is in excellent condition and belonged to my dad who worked all his life in aircraft maintenance.

I don't want to throw it out so if anyone is interested, I can post it to you.

Great, it's yours. Hope you will enjoy it. I had a look at it and to my untrained eye it looks like you could possibly build your own aircraft using it! It even has a section on how to use an old Singer sewing machine to repair upholstery! If you want to send me a pm regarding posting details I will get it to you asap.

I'd say my dad may have been before your time. He started in aviation here in Ireland back in the 40's and then worked abroad (Africa and the Middle East) from the early 50's until he came back to retire here in the late 70's.
