    Hi,
Just wanted some tips, I'm trying to relax my diet plans, because over thinking them makes it too hard to stick to. I've switched to porridge, eat brown rice , poach my eggs now, cut out all cream sauces ect,, but I still like to eat toast, spaghetti, sugary tea and that kind of thing.
Any one got some really practical advice on healthy food that isn't too OTT?

Cut out buying foods in a box/package, ie.anything that generally has more than 5 or 6 ingredients is unhealthy.

Cut out all refined carbs, white bread and white pasta etc.

Never drink calorific beverages, just water...have your tea with sugar if you must..

eat plenty of good fats such as nuts and fish

eat plenty of lean meats, dairy for protein

    eat plenty of vegetables.

I lost 15 kg by cutting out almost all carbs and eating a diet consisting mostly of saturated fat like butter, cheese and pork fat.

I think that people can go overboard in the analysis of what they eat. I've lost almost two stone in over two months, and really all I did was cut out the high calorue fats. I have three good meals a day, and I have no idea what the carbohydrate content, or really even the calorie content of them. They're just the regular type meals that I've always eaten. I think that people focus too much on the science of what they eat, and thus become easily frustrated and disillusioned, causing them to give up without success. Maybe it's just me, but I'd advise you to forget about the carbs and all the other indicators, cut out the obviously fatty/high calorie foods and snacks, and just eat what feels right to you.

I think that the best thing is to do is to follow something you can see youself doing for the rest of your life. Pointless otherwise. For example, what's the point in low carbing if you go back to eating them after you have lost weight?

Just be sensible in what you eat and how much. A good rule of thumb is whole, unrefined foods where possible. I wouldn't get too fixated on cutting out fat - some of the most nutritious foods are high fat like avacado, salmon, sardines, nuts and seeds, some dairy.

Again, you will know what works better for you. I loathe calorie counting, but for some it keeps them on track etc. If you cut back on junk and watch your portions thats a good start. Remember, your a human, not a monk.
