There's meant to be quite powerful before and after evidence performance wise but I don't know about them, my opinion would be snake oil.

    what are they?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,910 ✭✭✭couerdelion

Power Balance® holograms are designed to work with your body's natural energy field.

Interesting to read the feedback on these. I have a few friends who wear them and swear by them, especially if you are carrying an injury.

Jury still out with me but in fairness haven't tried one either

Talk about nonsense. Some people will believe anything the marketing tells them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 757 ✭✭✭MiniGolf

    From the Powerbalance website:

    •How Does the Hologram Work?

Power Balance is based on the idea of optimizing the body’s natural energy flow, similar to concepts behind many Eastern philosophies. The hologram in Power Balance is designed to resonate with and respond to the natural energy field of the body.

The term bovine excrement comes to mind........

christ almighty... no fupping way. Brilliant.

hats off to the jokers who dreamed up this utter ballsology. A hologram... seriously!?

You could literally market any gimmick to the golfing fraternity and it'd sell at least somewhat. just as long as its slick and shiny and the mumbo jumbo is of a high enough standard of horsesh1t that it sounds like an amount of research was done by some ambiguous institute.

what about: Derived from formula 1 technology, and tested by Aerospace Laboratories, Invisible nail polish for golfers that increases aerodynamic efficency during the swing.. therefore increasing clubhead speeds by upto 1 mph!

    Call it Rapid DRAG

    boom-tish

Guaranteed to take at least a shot off your game. Just like an electric trolley. And a GPS. And a McIlroy haircut. And a pair of shoes like Harrington. Great for those who don't have time for lessons or practice.

I've slashed 4 shots off my game this year. Just waiting on the hair to grow a bit now.

how about those hairy brush tee's!?

I heard if you make a large cone shaped hat from tin foil and wear it around the course you can drive the ball 400 yards off the tee..... PowerBalance Bracelets me arse

Have to say that when it comes to things like theses I tend to be very sceptical. However I was over at the PGA Fall show in Las Vegas last month and Powerbalance had a stand just around the corner from ours. I got talking to one of the developers and in his mind he was convinced it worked but I wasnt budging on my snake oil theory.

He asked me to stand straight and hold my arms (something like when you are dropping a ball in golf) he pushed down on my arms and as expected they gave way. He asked me to but on the bracelet and did repeated the same process this time my arms would not budge. I have no idea what this means for golf but it was a very impressive trick.

I managed to blag a couple off of them and have seen no difference in my golf, not sure even where they are now.

On a side note some of the gimmic products were very odd to say the least. I did like these though - http://www.tin-cup.com/home.php I was thinking of ordering a few boxes, if anyone is interested let me know, at a guess they will cost about €15 each (expensive I Know!!)

    Eh you could.....and they did:)

Had a customer run into the shop..........no burst in, fire in his eyes like a man possessed......puffin and a pantin......"Wheres the new balance things?" he demanded.......What the F**K i thought, but said "aren't they a type of trainer sir?" a sense of humour was not one of his traits......... "no no no" he yelped " it a new age thing that helps your game"......."oh I don't have them in stock I'm afraid".......this did not sit with him........."you must have them".........yelping a little bit more more like a dog that got a slap..........."I'm playing golf in an hour and I need one.......where can i get one??......my friend said he got one here....... and he's hitting it 40yds further!!!" it was at this stage I noticed his Copper Bracelet and Trion-Z combo of bracelet and necklace. Poor man his ION-Flow must of been all over the place:P

    FOOL.............................GOLFER...........................MONEY

Were they wearing them of their own free will or sponsors gift?

Saying that, I know from experience most pro sportsmen aren't be sharpest tool in the box.

These things might not actually physically work but if it helps a fella mentally then i dont see the problem, mental is a huge side of the game and if a fella thinks he can hit the ball further with with one on then more power to him, let him spend his own money its not yours, and fair play to the fella who has come up with the idea... to be honest i wouldnt mind if it was me who thought of it.....

on a side note a mate of mine told me they were banned in surfing.... dunno is it true heard it second hand...

Girl I know wears one of these (doesnt golf), she has an old knee injury from playing basketball which gives her recurring problems but she swears her knee bothers about 60% less since she start wearing it. Don't ask me, she's a sensible, intelligent girl as far as I know - but she's adamant the bracelet has helped her injury.

Well I got one, the main reason being that loads of people I know with them swear that they sleep better. I've been waking up 4/5 times a night for the past 9 months and am going around shattered. Nothing worse that waking up tired.

So decided they were worth a try. Got it last Friday and wear 24/7. I have half woken each night since but only once, even my OH notices the difference. Regarding my golf, I've played 3 times since I put it on and I am playing out of my skin. Club members are now asking me what I was doing all summer!

Is it a placebo effect - don't know and don't care it's working for me.

Maybe all I needed all along was a good nights sleep.

My back, which isn't great either, isn't making itself known especially towards the end of a round as it usually does.

    Mine's staying on!

I was stupid enough to buy one at the weekend - got suckered into it.

Then thought of something after I bought it. I did the 3 "tests" first wearing the bracelet and then not wearing it and did the tests better the second time without the bracelet on.

What happens is your body just adjusts to the balance tests and the stretching test is just the fact that your muscles have loosened from the first stretch.

Well I'm still sleeping like a baby!

    Bracelet stays on

Got suckered with the trion-z bracelet...... won't happen again.

Discovered the best way not to have sore neck and muscles was to stop falling asleep on the couch till 2 in the morning, propped up on the arm rest :).
