Advice needed: Merc CLS 320cdi

    Hi,

Thinking of buying a Merc CLS 320 cdi either 2006 or 2007. Cost will be around 30k.

I'm a bit concerned that the costs associated with potential repairs will be very high eg. I heard it costs quite a bit to get a car like this serviced.

Has anybody any experience of owning one that might have an idea of the costs involved in running a car like this (other than tax and insurance)??

    any advice much appreciated
    Cheers

I guess if you go to mercedes for your servicing, everything will cost n arm & a leg. If you shop around, use a good independent garage, it shouldnt be bad.

Most important thing is to buy a good one to start with. Get a full check done and a pro inspection if possible.

If you have a good mechanic, it should cost not much more to service one of these than it would a Golf. The only extras that should arise would be more oil than a smaller engine, cost of parts and maybe extra labour if a particular repair is more difficult than it would be on a more regular car.

If your man has a dealer approach to pricing, run a mile. Nothing worse than something like the Peugeot servicing scheme that costs more to service a 607 than it does to service a 107. Crazy since both take the same time.

even using a local or indy mechanic the cost of servicing this car would be a bit more than smaller engined cars..

but where the big expenses can arise is if you need parts for repairs, either mechanical or trim issues... these will be very expensive...
