    I'm only an amateur...

A "mint" (uncirculated) fifty could be anywhere from around 400 upwards.

What date is it? pre-1939 would be Most. War years next.

Not too sure about the ploughmans, the issuing bank is important and can affect value. Maybe 300 for the 1 and 500 for the 5? minimum.

Oh and the 71 lavery ten from the other thread? Maybe 30-50euro?

I could well be wrong though...

Grading notes is pretty dodgy. Check this out:

    http://www.banknotes.com/grading.htm

Whatever you do dont press the notes, it can be really obvious and is almost worse than a tear.

the 77 one hundred could be worth 5-600 maybe. I tend to think in dollars and I'm hopeless at exchange rates, but you get a general idea.

ebay is a good place to check for prices. Try ebay.co.uk as well as ebay.com and ebay.ie.

I would say now (as in this year and probably next) is not the best time to be selling. I'd advise keeping what you have a for a few years until we get out of this mess.

With the ploughmans notes it gets complicated because they were issued by different banks.

And some are rarer than others. In the lower middle of the note under the denomination there's a bank name. Thats important.

Look at this site to see whether its one of the rare ones:

    http://www.irishpapermoney.com/

Even if they're not "rare" and they're as good as you say they could be around 900. No idea about the ten but its going to be a lot more.

Again, I think the fact we're in a recession makes it a buyers market. hang on to them a few years.

    Hi jamiecoins,

I see you have problems uploading your images. You should try using a free image hosting site such as photobucket.com or imageshack.com. You can upload your pics there for free and once that is done they provide you with links to your pictures which you can then insert in your posts here.

    Best,
    P.
