My firebird boiler has been out of action for about 5 years
(house unoccupied) and when I went to start it it would start but not fire up then cut out, I cleared the supply nozzel and it fired into life however, the red cylinder (accumilator) ? on the hot water supply pipe to rads and hot water cylinder had rusted and burst, water everywhere, I eventually found and cut off the supply. Question can this unit be replaced as it is about 15 years old are they ready available ??

    any advice would be appreciated

    Whitworth...

from your description, its the expansion vessel for the heating system, bring it to a plumbing merchant to get the same size if you cant see what is. Also, hope you put the correct nozzle back in, and the settings are correct. If in doubt, get the boiler serviced by an experienced service engineer, other wise you will soot up the chamber

You should seriously consider getting someone who know more than yourself to sort this out.
