Handing in your Notice

Currently working two jobs, one 8-4 and the other nights and weekends. Now the 8-4 was only three days a week but I'm going five days a week there now so giving up the PT job.

I've been there for 4 years now so my notice period is 2 weeks. I'll probably work until they find someone else and train them in so as not to leave them stuck and not mess up my reference as I'm going to get a very good one.

Just wondering how exactly should I word my notice? Is it as simple as saying it to my manager or is there a generic written letter that you should use?

    Cheers

Anytime I've ever done it I just had a word with my manager. If I needed to give written notice then a "Please consider this my notice" usually suffices.

    To HR/ General Management

This letter is my x days/weeks/months written notice of my intention to leave employment at x company

    Signed

    Frisbee
    Date

You'll hear others saying you have to write a big long letter thanking managers for the opportunity and for time, blah, blah

Save that for the leaving speech, your letter should be as clear and simple as this

Cheers, I'm sure my manage rwould be ok with me just saying it to her but I'd imagine the corporate fat cats in head office will probably want a written letter when I finally blow that fascist popsicle stand.

Letter thanking them for their help, etc. Short and sweet. Nothing hateful, however true, is allowed.

Tell the manager, and ask how long will they take getting someone trained up, and put your notice to similar.
