that doesnt look that bad :) i would be a bit concerned of its resistive screen :) (personally i hate resistive screens :) but some like it :) also low on ram. but at that price you cant complain. looks like a win...you can always return it if you dont like it

It had me at Android 2.2 Froyo.

I mean the reviews are good for that version of android on you tube and other sits.

Ive not fully looked at this babys spec yet will today but.

Its a sure step up hopefully from the archos.

Not Bad for 150 I might get one of them.

As I said I bought a little pmp player off them 2 and a half years ago.

Now that player is really small battery well I never really tested it.

But it works plays videos and what not.

Never had a problem with that site.

For such a big screen to not be multi-touch either is a bit of a shame.
Having said that, it seems like a nice device and GPS is only an extra 15 blips so well worth getting that addon option.

Also, there are rumours of Android 3.0 (Gingerbread) being release by the end of the year and that it will have hardware restrictions (i.e. only be able to be run on high end equipment). It looks to be more driven to tablets than to phones. I'm not saying that this won't cut the mustard when it comes to being able to run 3.0 but it may be worth holding out until more news comes out about what hardware restrictions will be in place.

    Gingerbread 3.0.

NOTE: This may be just rumours after all as per engadget update...
Update: Android team's Dan Morrill (full title Open Source and Compatibility Tech Lead -- yeah, that's a bit of a mouth full) is calling out the rumor over Twitter: "I love it when people just make stuff up" (sarcasm, obviously), "rumors are not official announcements," and so on. Guess that's how the, erm, cookie crumbles.

I don't know when that you tube video on the page was put up.

But he said it was having problems with flash and playing videos and music.

Have them issues been fixed now ?

I've been looking at a 10" Elonex Tablet which is apparently going to retail at €199 (MRP). Also has a keyboard/case combination rumoured to be around €40.

    http://www.electricpig.co.uk/2010/09/06/elonex-etouch-1000et-looks-way-too-much-like-an-ipad/

There will be a 7" screen version available for around €150.

Alternatively if you know anyone travelling to the States there is a 7" tablet/e-reader available for €120-130.

Havent checked this out but there are a couple of tablets out there that dont have access to the app store - as they didnt get sign off from Google

    Augen Gentouch is one

By January the market will be flooded with some very nice Android tablets so I'll be holding off till then

This still looks decent though for the price

It Looks like android is taking over the market.

To be honest I think I will go for this one does anyone else think they will get one ?

It has Android 2.2 Froyo and its a savage 7 inchs I was a bit concerned about the issues with sound and video no playing and flash not working on it.

But god knows when that video was put up but came across a video there where some says its 1st update came out and flash works with it so yeah I wonder did they sort out the other issues.

the 16gb Rocktab does not look too shabby either for $169.50

ok, maybe not! Only running Android 1.5, no mention of internal memory and reportedly sluggish on 720 video

I got hit by customs on an order from mp4nation, so take that into account when pricing these tablets.

google has stated a while ago that android wasnt designed for use as a tablet. any tablet that would not support telecommunication methods as a phone will not have access to googles android marketplace. hence why the only tablet to have access to the marketplace so far is galaxy tab which ticks all the boxes but is pretty much an oversized phone :)

    No you can't.
    This is not a pc.
It is like a mobile phone. The memory is soldered into the motherboard.

You could expand the storage if it has a micro sd slot, but the memory would be the same.

ha believe me a seen that two I got confused.

Got a email there that the price will be going back to normal tomorrow.

Not sure what to do should I ordered it

    What you guys think ?

We will be getting stock of the Nationite MIDnite tomorrow, this time we ordered even more so that we don't sell out during the preorder. Its not too late to jump on this great deal. Get the Nationite MIDnite, Android 2.2 Tablet for just $209.50:

After tomorrow the price will jump back to the original price of $219.50.

It was for a portable speaker, the conversion at the time only worked out at €21.50 or something so I didn't actually have to pay anything.

I really want one of these but i want it to be updateable, capacitive screen and have access to the software market. does the A pad have one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,032 ✭✭✭biebiebie

ARM A8 Cortex processor clocking in at 800mHz (overclocked)

Android 2.2 isn't optimised for tablets. Android 3.0 Gingerbread should offer superior display options for tablets eg 7", 10" etc. Gingerbread is due towards the end of the year. It's said to have a minimum 1Ghz entry point. Therefore I'd have to question the future capabilities of this device going forward.

It's a resistive screen, so no multitouch. But heck you can use a stylus or wear gloves and it'll still work
