What to Buy?

    Hi All, we need to buy a second car and I'm not sure what to buy. The budget would stretch to 10K.

    I currently drive a Fiesta 1.25L on my commute to work (a 180km round trip) My wife needs a run around car to get the kids to school etc.

    My question is should I stick with the Fiesta (it has 100 000km's on the clock) and buy my wife a similar small car or should I give the Fiesta to my wife (she'll be doing considerably less miles) and buy myself something more economical, but probably more expensive, for the commute?

    I'm not sure which choice represents the best value in the long term when taking fuel, insurance, motor tax and maintenance costs into consideration.

    Any advice welcome.
