Well it seems that it will be out very soon, so may as well have an "official" thread.
Just to be sure, the actual website is www.greenpois0n.com. I would not recommend downloading it from any other sites, unless you trust them as there have been fake ones with trojans attatched.
This jailbreak will not be webbased like jailbreakme.com, so you will have to use the good old fashioned synch cable to do it.
As soon as it is out, I will be doing it, as I fancied trying 4.1 on my 4.
I really miss sbsettings, particularly now that I use bluetooth in the car now.

    Hi Phill,
Will this provide an unlock for 4.1/4.0.2?

Have a brand new IP4 sitting there on Vodafone PAYG on 4.0.2 that i want to give to the GF (Shes On Meteor).

its either unlock or pay 130e to vodafone to get an official unlock from them :(

Any idea if it's a tethered or untethered jailbreak?

From what Phil is saying it'll be tethered.

Looking forward to this, badly miss my SBSettings.

Regarding the unlock, some pages say it will. With so little info out there, I would think so, but can't confirm.

Similarly they have not confirmed if its tethered or untethered.

Actually not doing it via a cable does not mean the jailbreak is untethered. For jailbreaking purposes, tethering refers to having to connect back to your computer again every time you restart your iphone.
I would have thought the same as you though, before i looked it up.

Doubt it would need to be jailbroken already

Agreed, I can't recall any jailbreak that requires a previous jailbreak. downgrading is different though, as your shsh blob would have been saved by cydia previously, which would be needed.

thought the latest snowbreeze required you to be already jailbroken?
if thats not the case i know what i'm doing tonight:confused:

Greenpois0n may not be the next release .
Dev team have a major card to play with "SHatter" ,( as i mentioned here ). (or) could combine it with Greenpois0n ..who knows ?
Whatever way its released i think will be the basis for the next few exploits .

It has been suggested its better than the bootrom exploit found in the 3GS and used across nearly all the 3.0x firmwares (until Apple started shipping new bootrom version on new handsets)

This is great news , this is a exploit more got to do with hardware which "may" only be patched by Apple changing hardware on handsets .

Heres hoping the initial findings are true .

Greenpois0n is based on shatter. Shatter is the exploit that greenpois0n will use. It will most likely be the exploit used for the next few jailbreaks, because as you mentioned, is based on hardware rather then bootrom/basebands.

Yea seems after a bit more reading that Greenpois0n will be the vehicle used to get SHatter exploit out there , but i also read that the Pwnage Tool guys will also be releasing the SHatter expolit in its jaibreak method .

I know which version i will be using ...Pwnage all the way !
