iPhone 4 from Three - what firmware?

    I am about to get an iPhone 4 from Three, is there a way I could assess what firmware it's preloaded with without opening the box, ie. by checking serial number?

    Anybody picked up an iPhone 4 from them recently? What firmware did it have? They tell me at the store it'll be either 4 or 4.01, but it's not too wise to trust a salesman…

    Cheers Keith. Did you get it at the store or online? 16gb or 32gb? Would you be able to post or PM the first 5 digits of serial number (they state date of production) so I'd know that anything with that number or lower is likely 4.0?

    I am looking to get a 4.0 as it's more configurable for me as a developer.

    Thank you! The way I understand it, 4th and 5th digits in Apple serial numbers state production week.
    This one was apparently made in the 35th week (of the year).

    Just wondering, did anyone at all get a 4.02 or 4.1 right out of the box from Three?

    They told me at the store last week the ones they were selling had either 4.0 or 4.0.1, but obviously you have to buy prior to unpacking…

    I got a replacement iPhone 4 from insurance company last week (thru O2). Week 36, 4.0.2 installed.

    You can look at the Serial Number before buying
    aabccdddeef
    aa = Factory and Machine ID
    b = Year (0= 2010)
    cc = Production Week
    ddd = Unique Identifier
    ee = Colour (A4 = black)
    f = size (S=16GB, T=32GB)

    Thank you plu, this is my plan exactly, to take the box with the lowest serial number they have in store. I'm just trying to figure out what is the border date when they started shipping 4.0.2

    4.02 started mid week 32

    I just went to the stores in Dublin centre, they have week 35 16GBs and week 33 32GBs.

    Tough luck…
