    Hi there,

I have tried the mater follow up group which was great but am gutted something has come up that means I cant make Wednesdays for the foreseeable future.

Want to try the SA group that meets in smithfield on Tuesdays. Has anyone had experience with this? Also do you have to buy the audio series to do it?

    Thanks in advance!

i was at it for around 9 months....found it very helpful. it's quite relaxed and the people are friendly. the central role of the group is to provide a supportive environment to allow people with SA to work on situations which cause them anxiety in the 'real world'. it's a no pressure environment so you can do it at your own pace.

you do not have to buy the audio series to do it.....there are people who attend it who have done other types of cbt before joining the group. i do think though that it is important that you are working daily on the cognitive side of cbt for whatever method you are using. it provdes the foundation to go on and work on the behavioural activities successfully.

i know exactly where your coming from. i spent loads on other treatments i thought would work, some of which i'm embarassed to say so i can see why your not in a hurry to spend more money.

you do have the right addess but the group has taken a break over the summer and is due to get back soon but i can't give you a definite date. i'll let the organiser know that your interested in attending and i'm sure he'll get back to you via e-mail asap.

Thanks. Thats a relief to know as didnt want to miss it if it was going on. Hopefully they will email me soon.

Anyone with Social anxiety, I would really recommend going to a group as its a very lonely thing, really nice to meet 'normal' friendly people who understand what you are going through!

Sugarhigh, Its free or a small donation usually for the mater course and this is free also I think! Just google it for more information.
