Hey I heard that arts students are off Friday due to the open day. Is this true? Is the entire college off? I have one lecture in Cairnes theatre at 11 will it be cancelled? :D

Since when do "days off" exist in university? This isn't school love, nobody is making you go in.

Have you any idea how many people died so you could go to college?
What they suffered through? And this is how you repay them? Leaping at the opportunity to take a day off?
There are millions of people all over the world who would give their left eye to have the opportunity to attend a lecture in the Cairnes theatre at 11 - but no, you want to stay in bed after getting completely hammered the night before. The alcohol industry is what John Elliot Cairnes strove to liberate himself from by gaining entrance to Trinity.
Cairnes was even an important proponent of allowing women to study in the first place. It's people like you who are responsible for the **** state this country is in financially.
Do you want to know why the Irish Elk went extinct?

what a waste of electrons, exceedingly helpful to the OP

OP, your lecturer should tell you if there won't be class on friday. if he/she doesn't say, presume that you have class. i know that some lecturers don't bother with class on an open day (i think my applied maths lecturer told us we had his lecture off but we had a physics lecture later that wasn't cancelled)
if you're unsure, just email the lecturer and ask. they'll clarify it for ya :)

No she wants to know if her lectures are on friday.I think that it's a reasonable question considering that some lectures are cancelled.I mean it would be annoying to get up and go to the lecture hall only to find yourself hanging around outside.

    Fine.

OP - No, not all Arts students are "off" on Friday, though some may well be.
No, the entire college is not "off", though one could imagine that certain lecture theatres will be unavailable due to their being occupied by open day nonsense. Short of finding out what lecture is on in Cairne's at 11, or checking with Buildings or Security who has booked Cairne's for Friday at 11, since you didn't even specify what subjects you were doing nor who your lecturer was, I can't advise whether your lecture has been cancelled or not. Your lecturer may know. In fact, I would go so far as to say that they would inform you if the lecture were cancelled, either in class were one to pay attention, or on Blackboard, or by email or somesuch.
I suspect that unless there is an Open Day talk in the Cairne's at 11 on Friday your lecture probably is on. But don't worry - you can still feel free to skip it, because this is college and nobody really cares, and you will probably still get your Arts degree, whether you go in for this lecture or not.

    Love,

    Ficheall.

I told myself I wouldn't reply to your idiotic response to my simple question but I couldn't help it.
Who the hell do you think you are accusing me of wanting a morning off after a night out, you have some nerve! You know nothing about me!
I haven't gone out since I came to college, I may be a first year but I can't afford to go out, I live 6 miles from college, in the country in the cheapest place available! I drive to college everyday so no I don't go out since I would like to keep my license in order to get an education and a good job!
I choose not to spend what little money I have on drink since I live with my father who struggles to support us! I was wondering if I was off Friday so I could go home and help my father on our farm! Jesus I shouldn't even have to tell you this! You have no right to paint me with the same brush as other first years so in future keep you bullsh*t remarks to yourself!
You would seriously want to think before you go all crazy with the keyboard in future!
Maybe other boardsies will accept your crap but I certainly won't!

See, Mods - when you're overly anal about people trying to inject a little humour into bland threads you perpetuate the vicious cycle of boarders developing no sense of humour whatsoever...
