THE former chief executive of Anglo Irish Bank is believed to have fixed a date for his long-awaited interview with the Fraud Squad next month.

David Drumm has agreed to a meeting with detectives when he returns for a High Court case that starts on October 26.

Garda sources said they have yet to decide whether Mr Drumm will be arrested and questioned under caution about the €7.4bn deposit that bolstered the bank's balance sheet and other financial irregularities.

After his resignation in December 2008, Mr Drumm moved to Cape Cod, in the US, where he has remained at a distance from the garda investigation.
While his Anglo colleagues, Sean FitzPatrick, the former chairman, and Willie McAteer, its former head of finance, were arrested earlier this year, Mr Drumm remained in the US.

However, he struck up email contact with detectives after they made it clear they wanted to interview him in connection with the irregularities at Anglo.

Drumm has claimed in court papers that he moved to the US because he had no employment prospects in Ireland, and denied that he wanted to avoid his responsibilities.

There seems to be very little news of this as yet. I don't understand why the gardai have 'yet to decide' whether to arrest him when he returns. What is to decide? It is obvious that he left the country and stayed away to avoid investigation. It shouldn't be up to him to 'agree to a meeting' with the gardai when he returns for the High Court case in a month's time. He should have been deported back to Ireland already and locked up until the court case.

Oh wait! That wouldn't help his 'employment prospects'!

David Drumm is the former chief executive of Anglo Irish Bank, and is regarded as a key witness in a notorious Irish Life and Permanent (IL&P) transaction. The fraud squad is investigating whether the loan of €7.4bn from IL&P to Anglo constituted market abuse or manipulation. The €7.4bn loan bolstered Anglo's balance sheet and masked the extent of its massive losses from investors.

The inquiry into Anglo Irish Bank is the biggest fraud investigation in the history of the State.

While the Irish taxpayers are being forced to pay billions into Anglo, David Drumm has been reported to be living a life of luxury in Cape Cod since he resigned when the bank collapsed. He is due back in a month’s time to face a legal action by Anglo to repay €8.3m in loans, and may also be arrested for fraud.

the fraud squad should also concentrate on pressing charges against Michael Lynn, who is still wandering around facing no charges despite his 80million debts.

Here's where Charlie Bird knocked on his door ("Mr Drumm, it's Charlie Bird from RTE. Why are you ducking down?"):
