Ask the bouncers in Club K where they got theirs.

Try Speedy Hire - (091)755886 - down beside Lidl in Doughuisce.

Is it legal to use a metal detector along the beaches in Galway? I know in some places in the world you can't (in case you stumble upon an unexploded bomb or landmine, etc). Anyone find anything cool?

IT article from this time last year: http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/weekend/2009/1003/1224255768813.html

"In this country, it is illegal to use a metal detector without a licence to search for archaeological treasure". So sounds like it's only illegal if prospecting near known archaeological sites; beaches seem to be fair game.
