Not bad.. but how about 4 times the memory for about €25 euro more, plus it's from a reliable retailer:

    Amazon link

Oh yeah fecker ha ha you found one with a more memory your always one step ahead of me ha.

I was going too buy one but the you tube reviews aren't great at all cause the wifi is slow and the version of android isn't great.

Not sure can you upgrade it too 2.0 android but if you could I would be happy with that.

My advice: wait for the Archos 101 vandammaged!

It'll be out mid-October AFAIK and will retail at about €300.

    Basquille,

That Archos is a serious piece of kit. My nephew is coming back from Aus via Hong Kong or Singapore so I've asked him to look out. Was thinking of Ipad but this fills my requirements much better, tks for head's up :D:D

How are these any better than my laptop? I mean what's so good about them? I also mean the ipad....I just can't see the point to be honest :o

They're not better per se. But they are lighter, sleeker / thinner (etc.) - different requirements for different people - why bring a laptop on a long flight just to watch movies / read books etc when I can bring something smaller and thinner? If you're happy with a laptop, then that's fine but tablets do have their advantages.

PS - I own an iPad, but the Archos 10 does look superb!

Have Archos fixed their stupid volume issues ?
They basically wouldn't play over a certain volume due to some European safety law..I brought my last two back because of it.

Oh wow, I think I just got my Christmas present sorted.
Was thinking of getting an Android tablet, and this one is just perfect and a good price to boot!

Not sure.. if it were me, I'd knock together an application to increase volume on the source file.

Used to do that on my MP3's on my old iPod to preserve battery - made an basic C# application in 15 - 20 minutes using MP3Gain to increase volume by 3dB - 6dB on all files.

Archos have a nasty business model where you have to buy "add ons" to unlock functionality (eg codecs) in its players - don't know if it's applicable here.

Not only that but when you do pay €30 for an add-on - in my case the browser for it's featured Flash playing ability for youtube etc on the 605Wifi - it'll suddenly stop working (known issue with the flash player part of the add-on) and never be fixed (resetting to factory defaults doesn't work and it can't be upgraded). There's also a USB hardware recognition problem with some lines of their hardware (PMPs) where it randomly fails to work.

TBH I wouldn't touch Archos again!

    It is what it's.
