Hi, does anyone know which final year speciality subject is regarded as "easiest" in terms of work load. I'm going teaching in Korea after college next year and have no intention of ever working in a corporate business type job so I really just want to get this year over with and as easy as I can make it. Somebody recommended HRM as the handiest final year major. Anyone know if this is right?
    Thanks

Also, I've been away for the past 4 months and just got home yesterday. When do we start back, and how do I check time tables (if the are available yet).
    Cheers

Seriously? If this isn't a pisstake, I actually feel sorry for you. You're going into final year ffs! There's no easy speciality if you've no interest in any of them. Turn up to all the lectures this week, yes, this week and put some effort into choosing which one you dislike the least.

Haha, I'm afraid its not a piss take (I'm that bad)and yes just realized we are back today  I highly doubt I will like any as I don't know how anybody can truly "like" business without being in a serious sense of self denial, or lack any personal creativity but don't worry, like any other pointless degree course, if you study the endless stream of bull**** you will pass, which is what I have done until now and have maintained a 2:1 average. I know this year will not be as easy though but I'm well able to work. But thanks for the advice about going to each lecture to hear about them all individually, that's a good idea and will do this.
    Cheers

Not sure if you knew but they held a talk about the different specialisms in the nursing building today.

HRM seemed like the easiest & most interesting option. Happy I went with that as i was also considerin e-business

Finance is the hardest, I did it.

HR/IT/Marketing have less work in them...:)

Most if not all of the specialisms (?!) have a lot of CA, especially in semester 2. I did finance, semester 1 was alright for CA but then semester 2 made up for it :(

Here's my brief opinion on each one

Marketing - ridiculous amount of CA, pretty much at least 1 thing a week, probably more

HR - a lot of CA, and particularly if you pick the project module in sem 2, and i think a few of the exams were tricky this year

Finance - CA isn't that bad,, they're not worth big % of the module, but this year there was more to do in sem 2. Exams were alright if you went to class and kind of kept on top of things (with the exception of financial theory which can be a bi**h :( and econometrics ) think we got lucky with lecturers last year! :)

    Law - not sure

Ecommerce - think it was ok from what I heard...

The 2 year long modules, strategic management and new enterprise development are a nightmare, especially if you end up not being in a great group. So much work goes into NED (100% CA) with little pay off for it, it takes up so much time. Same for strategy, but last year we had 50% exam at end of semester 2, so all the work put in for the assignments was only really worth half the marks in comparison... the airline assignment can get head wrecking by the end of it!

On the bright side, the year flew in for me anyways, so you'll be out of there before you know it :D

Thanks for replies. I'm going with Law (at least for now) as I feel out of all specialisms it will probably be the most "interesting" to me. I don't think I could handle a year of HRM just based on last years single module and how boring it was. Hopefully Law won't be too bad. Yeah I've heard final year flies by since you are so busy all the time :)

One other thing quick, do you think balancing a part time job with the final year work load is feasible? Guess this is dependent on how a person manages their time etc but in general I'm just curious if people worked jobs in final year?
    Thanks
