Just saw on the news at :1:00 PM that some Bishop has come out and said the boycott of mass organised by some woman did not work. In fact attendance was a bit higher than usual !!!!!!

Does the catholic church have such a sophisticated system for measuring attendance that it can tell us this at 1:00 Pm on the day?

Are all catholics bar-coded so they get counted when they pass the church door or do they have an on-line communication wafer counter installed on each alter?

    How is it done?

Three Hail Mary's Bishop - I must not BS on Sundays.

Its the house of god, if he can turn wafers into the body of himself he can install a counter on the door.

Perhaps he just looked around his church, seen that there were a few extra people, more than usual, and drew his conclusion from that?

Honestly, I'm not even remotely religious, and have no interest in it at all, but what a silly comment to make. Trying to find any little thing to moan about.

Well he was hardly going to turn around and say, "Yup, mass attendences are down. They sure showed us. Better change our dogma!"

I'd no more trust the church's figures on this than I would, well, any of their figures about anything.

if the church can make 7,300 loaves and 3,400 fishes out of a basket or two of each, it's kinda understandable how a few pensioners and some new parents who want their kids baptised might look like the sort of crowd that would fill slane.

Its not like he's gonna admit it if attendance was down. Give it another fifteen years or so mind you. . .

    1 Timothy 2(King James version)

11Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
12But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

Yep, bible's pretty clear on the matter of women teaching the bible.

    "Hi Mary"
    "'Morning Peter"
    "Good to see ye Jim"
    "Ah Anne, it's yourself"
    "oh hello, I don't think we've met"

That's so bizzare, I watched that episode last night.

At any rate, if you're trying to reform the RCC then you're in sore need of a real hobby.

    FYP :)

But seriously, there are many Christian churches out there which would cater to the needs of the people who want to reform the Catholic Church.
