Theres been a lot of negativity around here lately so I think we could do with a bit of a love-in for our Alma Mater. So what do you like about UCD?

    Heres a few of mine:

    1. The abundance of squirrels

    2. The eerie emptiness of the place in the early morning

    3. Going on a wander around campus and always finding something new or interesting along the way

    4. Campus looks lovely in Autumn with conkers and leaves everywhere

    Any others?

    5. The UCD bum, how many other colleges have an aul fella walking around with such mystery attached?

    6. Football pitches everywhere, great place to have a kick around.

    7. The computers working and not using windows vista.

    8. No tourists.

    9. The vast amount of green spaces and trees on campus.

    10. An excellent library and book shop.

    11. Peanut butter smoothies from 911.

    22. The women. By far the highest ratio of hotties to uggos of any campus in Ireland. Have a quick walk around the TCD arts block then the UCD arts block for comparative purposes if you dont believe me (how is this only being mentioned at 22?!).

The feeling you get when you're in early in the morning when it's calm and peaceful.

The buildings that light up at night

Chilling out with friends by the lake in the summer

By and large, how sound everyone is.

    A history of absolute legends.
O'Malley was studying medicine at University College, Dublin in 1916 when the Easter Rising convulsed the city, and he was almost persuaded by some unionist friends to join them in defending Trinity College, Dublin from the rebels should they attempt to take it. After some thought, he decided his sympathies were with the rebels and he and a friend took some shots at British troops with a borrowed rifle during the fighting.

Easy hole, even for science students.

At least that's what the hysterical twittering from the Sunday Indo would leave you to believe.

Any college where the authorities label it 'dangerous and seditious' to label a Ball the 'Virgin Ball' is not likely to be the most licentious place on Earth. ;)

Oh but this is the I love UCD Thread... sorry -

Rubbing shoulders with the general melee trapped on the rat-run on the 46A in Stillorgan.

Followed by the cool, crisp, silent Autumnal campus of Belfield, and the heady smell of coffee in the Arts Cafe.

25: The fact our bar can fit more then 12 people in it

26: The fact our second bar can also fit more then 12 people in it

27: The ability to put huge name guests in a hall that can fit 1500

28: The way it actually does look like a soviet airfield on one of those freezing mornings just as the sun rises

29: The way everyone there is a student

30: The intimidating steeped, semi circular lecture theatre that is Theatre L

A lot of people seemed to have a lot say about that gig. I heard the man himself was not happy about it.

He tweeted after that the crowd were too wild and it got shut down early. I had such a good night.

Hmm... What else do I love about UCD? The way the ducks in the lake peep their eyes over the side in a really creepy way. Easily the most pervy ducks ive ever seen.

They should put that in the prospectus! "Come to UCD! We have the biggest student body in Ireland, excellent sporting facilities, over 100 clubs and societies, and pervy ducks!"
