I enjoyed it, but think that it is not a patch on Punisher:Warzone, imho of course.

Warzone, for me, is much closer to the comic version of Frank Castle, and I think Ray Stevenson was a far more believable FC than Thomas Jane was.

Didnt really like The Punisher, bit too ham and cheesey.Warzone on the other hand is an uber violent riot from start to finish, pure comic book action flick.

    I assume you mean

    not

    Punisher89poster.jpg?

I like the Thomas Jane version. Thought it suffered from not knowing whether it was supposed to be played straight or like the comic book movie stereotype but I enjoyed it. It was basically Grand Theft Auto (the game) the movie for me.

War Zone was meh. It wasn't as Garth Ennis as it thought it was. ;)

    Oh and 2004 movie had

I thought all of these films were meant to be muck, hence why we're getting yet another reboot. :pac:

no the reason for the next reboot is that marvel just got the rights back

I fall into the Warzone is much better side of the argument, despite Dominic West being appaling in it. Would have loved to have seen him play Jigsaw straight rather than Batman tv show version that he did.

I really hope they go the punisher max direction for the proposed reboot.
Who would play the ideal punisher though?
Its a pity clint is too old...

Ah right, but I think you have to question how many times you are going to reboot something before accepting that the general audience just aren't into the character. Much like The Hulk really. I really liked TIH, but it didn't do great at the BO.

There's a oce off Punisher story called The Cell where an aging Punisher finally gets caught by the cops and gets put in prison.
You later find out that he got caught on purpose so he could kill the guy responsible for murdering his family

Tell me that aint Clint Eastwood

Ray Stevenson did a great job as Frank Castle in Warzone. Looked the part and has the build/height for the role.

He brought some nice little realistic touches to the part as well. Loved the way he would reload his weapons during and between gunfights. In most films guns seem to have an unlimited supply of bullets during firefights. Seems the reloading thing was something that Stevenson came up with. Such a simple idea that added a small bit of realism.

yeah ideally theyd just continue on from the last movie but im not sure of the legalities of it...it was a decent movie - maybe they could just keep him in the role

One thing about Warzone is that it is generic (not exactly the right word but how and ever) enough in relation to the Punisher mythos that a new film could easily be made without contradiction. It could quite easily unofficially fit into the new film's continuity, just so long as they didnt drastically alter the character/back story (ie: his family are alive and well). The Tom Jane version (and the Dolph Lundgren one for the record) made several key changes to the Punisher's back story so they couldn't fit in this way.
Although that said, you could smudge out the flashback from Warzone in your memory if you wanted it to be a follow up to the Jane film.
