Its been too quiet by far on the AAI political scene but normal service has been resumed. Following the exit of the High Performance Manager last month we hear that he is being followed out the door now by Chris Jones, the consultant High Performance Director imposed by John Treacy last year over the heads of the AAI. Turns out he was a decent enough sort, although primarily a triathlon guy, but unlike Devlin, he is leaving of his own accord as he clearly has had enough of the charasmatic leadership of the Donegal Don.
McGonagle was the only AAI person to vote against Paul Doyle for the HP job back in 2008 and it was Jones that he wanted, based on Treacy orders to keep Doyle out.
Is there no hope that some level of credible preparation for London can be put in place - it's probably already too late to have any real impact but let's see McGonagle off the premises at least so that we can build some sort of competence and some level of credibility with our elite athletes.
