I was recently talking to some deluded mainstream obsessed fool on youtube who believes Tinie tempah is a better rapper than Kid Cudi. He was 100percent serious. Am i the only one who thinks it was possibly one of the most ridiculous statements of all time?

Cudi's not a particularly great MC himself, but i do enjoy his music quite a lot.Soundtrack 2 my life is probably one of my favourite songs of recent years.
Tinie Tempah is pants imo,he's for 14 year old girls,in the same mould as N-Dubz really.

I have no idea how you even started comparing the two. My only guess is that whoever you were arguing with thinks the best rappers are the ones on Spin 1038,like Tinie Tempah, Chiddy Bang and Akon.

Tinie Tempah is an average UK MC with above average production. Kid Cudi has far more depth.

both awful mc's, kid cudi never lived up to his hype and tiny tempah is just a industry slut like a lot of former uk grime acts its all going techno and the likes

I prefer apples to oranges myself. Who cares?

Kid Cudi is interesting but I find his stuff a bit patchy to really gel with me. I love some of the stuff he does though.

TT is so new I can't begin to decide wether he's good or not. I liked the first single. The 2nd single was such a clone of the 1st one that I didn't see the point of it. His third single seems a bit ****e.

I'm not a commercial snob. I like pop when it's done well. Some of the electro stuff that Tinchy, N Dubz, Dizzee and Wiley do are great songs. I love the new Roll Deep single Green Light. I'd rather they go down that road that making ****ty songs about birds being beautiful, with ernest indie dudes singing the hook ala B.o.B. or the much cheesier electro stylings of Flo Rida and Black Eyed Peas. I think most of the grime artists are doing a good job of tweaking pop and keeping a bit of that alternative flavour while the US pop rappers just go for the most sanitised souless **** ever.

Don't get why people moan about grime artists doing pop songs. Like Wiley does a few, but he also releases about 5 mixtapes or pure grime in the same month as well. I'd rather see them meet the audience half way. I got into rap listening to pop rap like MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice and Snow. Get the audience interested they'll develop more sophisticated tastes down the road.
