This is just something Im curious about and have being wondering. Anyway it seems to me every second day I hear someone say or read about something our current government are doing which is stupid or wrong or controversial or whatever...

Im just wondering, is it possible they actually know what they are doing and have something up their sleeves?

How long have we being in this mess? A good year or two at least. No matter how much you hate them you have to admit they (the government) are intelligent people. And even if they were as stupid as some people protray them- they have access to some very brilliant minds....

SO is it possible they have other plans in the background we just dont know about yet..??

Seanie Fitz is an 'intelligent' person and look at the mess he created. FF were also greedy and as result have also created a dreadful mess.
It's much harder to fix the problem than to prevent one. That's the problem we are in now, no one will be able to fix it, but most wouldn't have landed us in it in the first place.

Yes. They've got a brilliant plan to solve all of our problems by the stoke of a pen. They're going to implement it, em ... next Tuesday.

In fairness your talking about what got us into this mess.... which was greed. But hopefully now they have woke up a wee bit and are working on something... hopefully :D

An analogy is train crash, a speeding driver the cause of it. Waking up now is a little late i'm afraid.

FF are pathetic but not stupid, they have an inbuilt survival at any cost instinct, they do however think the electorate are stupid enough to swallow their B.S. and keep voting for them.

Ok. Fair enough. With that anonolgy, obviously we cant bring back the dead. But the clean-up of the wreck....? THere would a definite plan/procedure on what to do... then afterwards maybe an investigation into what went wrong, how to prevent in future etc....

Im just curious, like I said in the OP, why does it seem that the government are making so many bad calls after the fact? Obviously we cant fix the mess... but they could at least get a definite plan together on what to do and how to do it...

Not a stupid group of people. Some are incredibly intelligent, but NONE have that key leadership quality thats necessary for a successful government in desperate times. FF, FG, Labour.. all the same story.

    Sadly very true.

Again true - and the blind, easily forgetful and brainwashed of this nation will still do so sadly.

The thing that most people omit to notice is that regardless of what the Gov do, people aren't going to like it. We're screwed as a country. The only way to get us out of this mess is to do a lot of cutting and slashing. Admittedly the direction of some of the cutting and slashing has been questionable. But a lot of what's said/written out there is rubbish generated by people who don't like facing the fact that they've spent too much in recent years, lived a life they couldn't afford and reality is now biting.

I'm not a major fan of this Gov, and I do think that there's been an element of aimlessness to what they're doing. But equally I think some of the miles of newsprint and hours of airtime generated is an over-reaction on behalf of Irish people. Call it denial, whatever. We just don't want to hear that we have to cut back. It's not like we're being asked to starve either.

I keep hearing an ad on one of the radio stations, which to me sums up the situation. It's for a talk show in the evenings, a clip of something that was obviously discussed some weeks ago. There's 2 callers on the line and the presenter says something like "maybe we should just face the fact - that we pay ourselves too much money" and both callers (middle aged women by the sounds of it!) immediately say "ah no, not at all. never. We don't get enough money, don't say something so silly". They barely draw breath they're in such a hurry to correct him of this notion.

I seriously doubt FF know exactly what they're doing, but I do think they have a better grasp of the situation than people give the credit for. I also think that none of the opposing parties, finding themselves in the same position, would find themselves doing anything different. It doesn't actually matter who is making the decisions, people aren't going to like them, and they have to be made.

FF are an organism, a parasite, one with a survival instinct and although the organsim is wounded, it is still unfortunately capable of winning a GE. Sad but true.
