The new Mosque in Galway City

The foundation stone for the first Muslim mosque in Co Galway was laid last Friday by the head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Association.
His Holiness Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Khalifatul Masih V performed the ceremony at Ballybrit.
He said he hoped the opening of the mosque would help contribute to interfaith dialogue and understanding and would foster a sense of peace, harmony and tolerance in our societies.

Is there a thread with an update on this topic?

Money says the jips out in Ballybrit will claim it as their own and turn it into a halting site!

It's a f*cking disgrace building a mosque in Galway. It's too close to Ground Zero. Those Arab bastards are really taking the piss with this.

A rolling boulder gathers no mosque.

Considering Irish people generally don't respect "deeply religious people" when they happen to be Catholic, I see no reason for them extending respect to "deeply religious people" who happen not to be Catholic.

Any muslims i know observe Ramadan,do thier daily praying and all the rest of it.

In my experience,mass-going catholics are the biggest hypocrites on earth.

The Ahmadiyya Muslims are apparently often persecuted by other Muslim sects for want of a better word.

There we go again. "In my experience" are, obviously, the key words in that sentence. Maybe you should stop romanticizing any religious group but Catholics? That's just prejudice.

As long as they don't use my tax money to help build or run it I don't care. Keep out of my face and what about. It will probably create jobs for a few builders

Most probably they are entitled to some of your tax money - considering that Catholic and Protestant schools are entitled to it.

They get tax breaks because it's a religion. If they actually get funding from my taxes then by criminy I'm against it!

Minister O'Cuiv at the foundation laying ceremony for an organisation founded by a Paedophile, disrespects women and actively encourages the killing of Western christians. Jeez another new low for Fianna Failure.

Why bother even asking such a pedantic question? You know well where he means, even if his point is irrelevant to the thread.

Yup, except for the extreme ones AFAIK. My uncle-in-law is from Syria, he's a Muslim yet went to a Christian school there.

All Muslims aren't gun totting Arabs who hate the West, and to think even a noticeable percentage of them are is ridiculous. Plus, if you don't agree with the actions of a country / group, then why mirror them here? Then you're just as bad as them.

There lies the difference, maybe that will lead to a more tolerant world...and that will be a prime example.

I think he was referring to cartoon muslims.

Did you know that "rabble, rabble, rabble", translated into Muslim, is "burka, burka, burka"?

Do you understand the word "rhetorical"?(BTW, this is a rhetorical question, so no need to answer;))

Anyone who could come out with something as utterly moronic as "their country" in relation to a religion instead of a nationality could mean anything, so no, I didn't know what he meant.

So should we tolerate everything, because people tolerated the Nazis and loook how that turned out

Ah come on - if it wasn't for the Nazis, we wouldn't have had all those great war movies, like The Dirty Dozen, The Longest Day & The Great Escape.

We have a lot to thank them for.

Yeah, and as you commented in an earlier post, in some of these countries a Christian church may be burnt down; i don't know of any examples but i'm sure there are some.
You'd a agree that this is a bad thing and undesirable?
If so, why ask why we shouldn't act the same in this country?
Surely, we don't want to be like the worst extremists in those countries.
If you have such distaste for these people, why would you want to emulate them?

I think they'd like you more Jugger. Your attitude to things you oppose would meld very well with the Iranian authority's, I believe.

We should tolerate anything that does not break the law of the land; and be glad that we live a country that allows freedom of belief.
