Water in tank not heating

    Hi all,

For the past few days the water tank has not been heating. I turned off the timer at the weekend as I was gone Friday and Saturday night. Dont think it has worked since I turned it back on as the water has been getting cooler and cooler each day (I use very little hot water).

Both hot water and cold water taps are giving out cold water (pump comes on too fine for both).
I have felt the tank and it is cold.
Timer is getting power (LEDs for timer and boost come on when on and no fuse tripped in fuse board).
I have tried the timer and booster separately.

Attached is the diagram of the tank and an image of the timer.

I must say that the cold water used to get a little warm sometimes which I assume is the hot water using the expansion pipe. Not sure if its relevant as I am only here a year and it has always been like that.

Could it be the thermostat? Both elements hardly went at the same time?
    Any ideas?

    Thanks for any help/advice.

I say the top element went some time back but you wouldnt of noticed as the bottom one was working as normal, and now either the element or thermostat is now gone on the bottom one.

or maybe the high limit stat has kicked on and just needs to be re-set by pressing the button.

Is your boost working.... I sometimes find that as those stats start to go only the boost works...Weird I know.

Boost is not working. We never really used the boost before so I don't know if it ever worked.

All you can do is start testing the system electrically... If you want me to move this to the electrical forum and have an electrician advise you how to test the element and the stat just ask...Thanks

yeah it would be worth trying 2 new stats as they are only a few pound each, if one still doesn't work or keeps tripping then theres a leak/flaw in the heater so the immersion body should also be changed
