    Hi Guys

Just doing some research*, wondered if you can help me, I'm looking for owners of a PS3 to tell me whether they or a friend have experienced the Yellow Light of Death.

There's also a poll if you wouldn't mind

*NOTE: This research is being carried out for my own personal reasons, I do not represent any company or organisation, and I will not be passing any results onto anyone afterwards. It is purely to help me decide if, given Sony's past problems with their console, whether a PS3 would be a suitable investment as a games console. Sorry for any confusion.

I have an original launch model and a slim and no problems. If I'd wanted the hardware to explode I'd have bought an xbox :)

No problems with mine so far, thankfully.

60GB failed with the YLOD. Fixed it with a heatgun and traded it for a slim.

60gb failed about a year ago. Got it repaired but bought a Slim aswell. Now the 60gb sits in the sitting room and the Slim in my room.

    I've had 2 PS3s, a launch 60GB and a 40GB. Didn't happen to me with either, and I personally know nobody it's happened to.

My 60GB failed on me about three months ago.

I did attempt to fix it, and got it working for about an hour, but then just died again.
About two weeks ago my brother bought a new 120GB slim model.

My launch day PS3 got the YLOD around november last year, replaced it within a few days with a brand new 250gb slim ps3. Have been meaning to get the old one repaired but still havent got around to it, even though it has modern warfare 2 stuck in it.

Thought it would never happen to me,My 60gb busted last night, YLOD. Does anyone know of any stores in Dublin who stock 60gb refurbs, sorry if this is the wrong section of the forum to ask this question.

My 60GB launch model is going strong but that is the model which seems to be prone to this fault and I use mine a lot so I'm half expecting it to happen to me sooner or later. I keep thinking of 'upgrading' to a Slim but I love the look of my shiney fat hunk of gaming genius.

I know a few people who have had the YLOD but no one I know in real life has had it happen to them. By contrast I don't know a single XBox 360 owner who isn't on at least his second machine.
