When Brittany and the gang try to convince Mr. Schuester to let them do a Britney Spears number, he is reluctant to go that edgy. Meanwhile, an insecure Will is curious about Emma's new beau, Dr. Carl Howell, so he convinces her to bring him in to talk to the kids about dental hygiene. While the dreamy doc inspires the girls to take their dental health more seriously, Will is left feeling worse than before.

Meh. I have finally grudgingly accepted that Glee has lost it's dark, tongue-in-cheek humour and has become mindless teen angsty crap. The first 9 epsiodes of the first season were some of the best TV I have ever seen. Unfortunately it has totally lost its spark:(

Britney/Brittany was funny in places though and "Toxic" the best song so far this season, but I was totally underwhelmed by everything else.

Week by week I'm slowly falling out of love with the show, hopefully it will reign me back in soon.

they didnt show enough Britney, but Britney S Perice is now my fav

    lol I love John Stamos.

"This room looks the one on that spaceship when I got probed" = line of the episode.

Actually Britney was generally amazing in this episode. Way hotter than Britney Spears IMO.
The Britney Spears cameo was stupid.
Santana looked pretty hot for once in the white suit.

    Marked improvement from last week

    Spoilering just in case:
Agree that that Britney cameo was lacklustre and boring. Britney S Pearce won out by far, damn that girl can dance!! That first video with her dancing was amazing!

Bored of the Rachel and Finn story. Cheesy and boring last song, plus it freaks me out how he is so skinny and has a frame like a ten year old in some shots.

Thumbs up for Emma and I'd like to see more of Coach Bieste!!

Cringe again for Will dancing, and got a giggle out of Sue taking the mick outta him for his extensive vest collection.
Started well and went downhill for me.

I'm getting more and more disappointed with the show. The Glee kids seem somwhat sulky and uptight, they lost their victim charm. I liked the idea of putting a female coach on the team and that lipy blonde kid joininjg Glee. Meanwhile the authors focused on ruining everything about Will that made me like him.
    Stamos was great, though

I know it's a Britney tribute episode, but the amount of songs seems a bit excessive. 20 minutes in and 3 songs, but no real story line.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,201 ✭✭✭✭Basq

42 minutes of telling Britney Spears how much they adore her through song..

This is just lazy LAZY LAZY.. an arse-load of Britney songs portrayed by various characters with little or no story progression. The writing outside of the songs was very patchy, but Stamos was impressive.

And Heather Morris is the only saving grace of the 'Glee' kids.. she gets the best lines and her doe-eyed stupidity is both adorable and hilarious. She is the star of the show.. after Jane Lynch obviously.

This episode was absolute trash though!!

No story line again tonight - recently I've only been watching Glee for the music, nothing else, because any sort of plot development is all over the place, watch just to see what songs and what routine. I'm starting to dislike Rachel, with her having all the solos, grates on my nerves now. Loved seeing Brittany dancing and John Stamos - brilliant!

I'm enjoying the new season so far, the last two episodes were better than the most of the second half of season 1 IMO.

Tonight's episode was good, I liked the Britney songs that they chose. I just cringe every time Mr. Shue starts singing!! I like him with Emma and his sparring with Sue but the minute he opens his mouth to sing I just cringe! I don't know what it is because he has a great voice. I just couldn't look at him with his white socks and his vest during Toxic!

Loved John Stamos, Brittany and Terri in this episode. I'm really liking the new football coach as well.

There is still good comedy in Glee and the singing is good but they need to cut down on the cheesiness just a tad. Rachel's little speech before she sang her last song was way too corny.

I am in favour of dropping the celeb-centred episodes, one or two a season should be the max. There are way too many celebs appearing in this show now.

    +1.

His voice is so froggy. And if I have to hear him "rap" ONCE more...

I thought it was definitely better than the first episode, but I hope the rest of the episodes aren't all dedicated to one singer/band.

I like the Stronger version with Artie. I agree that I'm getting sick of Artie (nothing wrong with the Actor as a singer) but it's like there is nothing to him storyline wise except that he wants to be like somebody else so that he can get the girl. To be honest, I think the whole football thing is bonkers.

Brittany, I love her character...probably the main reason I liked this episode, as there wasn't a lot with Kurt and Mercedes. Kurt was very pushy and angry throughout the episode
(looking at the promo for the next episode, I can understand why)

I think I preferred Toxic overall, nice to see all the guys together and I loved that it pissed off Sue. It was very Push it from the first season. Actually liked all the song choices, this is probably the one episode I didn't skip over a song.

Every episode seems to have some storyline with Rachel. I don't really like her character but they better give the others a chance in the next few episodes I'm kind of sick of how many she is being given over the others...like Puck, Santana, Mercedes etc.

    Rachel is getting quite annoying...

But Brittany was amazing! That girl is extremely talented

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

Lovin' Brittany, she had some fantastic lines and is pure comedy gold, BUT....does anyone suspect Britany is a closet genius?, like it's all put on to be popular?....do you think they'll go there at some stage?

Jacob, lol....what a perv!, guy is seriously creepy. I actually really enjoted this episode overall, had some great laughs...even from Will " now lets talk about Michael Bolton"...lol!!

I thought the Britney cameo was unnesscary, she didn't add much at all, at least they wrote in that Britney is not a good role model, which i agree with. One thing that annoyed me....why did they sing Baby One More Time in a higher octave??????...madness!

I agree it lacked a central plot, but the writing in Glee has gone downhill since the first 13 episodes, but the ratings.....MASSIVE:

    Glee (61 minutes)
    - 13.508 million viewers
    - 7.6/12 HH
    - 5.9/17 A18-49
    - 6.4/20 A18-34
    - 8.6/24 W18-34

    Unreal!

I liked some parts of this episode and really didn't like others. John Stamos is an example of a celebrity (like Josh Groban and Neil Patrick Harris) who adds to the cast and seems to blend in quite nicely. Britney just didn't seem to fit. Her cameo was awkwardly shoved in and I think lasted under 10 seconds.

I didn't like that for a large portion of the show we were essentially watching Britney Music videos, copied to a tee. They were done very well, it just felt like one big production would have been enough.

I did enjoy a lot of the one-liners though. The plot may not be developing overall but the witty one-liners are back in force.
"Well, Will. My spinal coloumn was ruptured in a sex riot."

Overall, I'm not going to stop watching any time soon but these themed celebrity episodes are worrying me because they're so focussed on paying homage to a particular person that the show's characters are ignored. I mean, how long has it been since Mercedes has had a solo or any hint of a storyline?

Anyone notice the very clever internet joke put in there??

When Rachel came out of her Britney number on the dentist chair she asked 'Is this real life?'

I thought it was very clever and sly :D

Loved the episode because I'm a Brittany and Britney fan, love them both. But if they were sucking up to an artist I didn't like I probably wouldn't have liked it as much.

Toxic was fantastic because it wasn't a copy of the britney videos, while it was a rgeat opportunity to let Brittany have the spotlight and show off her fantastic dancemoves it wasn't exactly their own production.

    I still loved it though!

Brittany S. Pierce ruled the show

Its Brittany biatch :D I think her and Finn would make a great couple Dumb and Dumber

So Tina aint friends with Kurt and Mercedes anyone since she hooked up with Mike "Abs" Chang

It needed more Puck for me

I have mixed feelings. I like Britney Spears so I enjoyed the covers of her songs and Heather Morris is an amazing dancer. I loved the version of Toxic and I enjoyed seeing Will dance and sing with the group. Some excellent one-liners but on a whole, not much story progression and that last song of Rachel's was so dull. I think the show peaked in the first half of season 1 and they need to do a lot to reclaim it.

Yes it really was a dull song, kind of ended the episode on a boring note!

    "It's like a Jewish cloud"

Britney rules. There was so much comedy gold from her in this ep. it's hard to remember it all. It's obvious the writers have responded to the love out there on the Net, in forums like this one, for the moronic genius that is Britney S. Pierce. Worth watching just for her deadpan one-liners.

    Awful, awful, awful.

All it did was remind me that I like Britney's early stuff.

And since when is Paramore "adult contemporary"?

If Rachel keeps getting all the attention and the final song I'm going to punch through my television. She is the least likeable character in the whole show, and whenever she sings I have to look away because she makes loads of stupid faces.

Mercedes and Puck didn't get to speak and having Kurt lead this bizarre Britney campaign was completely stupid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 89,020 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

Kurt or Puck should have sang the final song (Puck should have sang Womanizer or Kurt sing Boys :p)

Rachel's the main female actor in the show. Probably best you don't watch it tbh :)

    Really? I hadn't noticed

So far, in the first two episodes, she has had her own seperate pointless story and got the final song (both of which have not been good). She's never been shown this much favouritism and it's not necessary.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 89,020 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

I would think Sue is the female lead yet come awards time she always nominated as supporting

Anyways why is Terri back there is no need for her she is divorced from Will and she is annoying

Rachel on and off screen is a diva!

Agree with most of what's been said so far. The episode contained plenty of examples of what makes Glee great but equal amount of crap showing where it really disappoints.

In fairness, I think they've a really hard task in trying to balance all elements of the show.

Rapping of any kind = FAIL

Schuh trying to relive his schooldays = FAIL

He's so up his own arse, even when he was singin in the new sports car, Emma was like "Skarlih"

Brittany was amazin in this episode though. Non stop, hilarious lines, good ones last week too!

    It's Brittany

    bitch

I wonder if they're gonna develop on the hints that she's a lesbian. They're pretty in your face hints!

I loved the Britney/Brittany episode!! Love Brittany, she is awesome. And wow that girl can dance! She sang and danced better than Britney herself!!

I hate Rachel  She is so annoying and full of herself. And Finn needs to grow a pair. Artie really annoys me, I am sick of all the stupid rap. And as for Will, ugh cringe when he did the Britney song with them!!!!

Loving the new coach, she's awesome! And Sue of course.

I liked last night: with the exception of the rip off britney music vids! I think Glee should be and is cleverer than that!!

The one liners are getting better and better though I am loving it!

Also what am i missing out on on the whole rachel brooke smith thing? She's not famous??!! Even google didn't reveal much: shes a dancer: or am i missing something?!

Rachel Brooke Smith is an excellent dancer, and sometime actress, she starred in the straight-to-DVD movie Center Stage: Turn It Up, a sequel....it was ok.

The amount of money he could have made from all them views (at 5c per view)... not to mention various appearances and such.

I'd be pathetic on screen for that!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,089 ✭✭✭✭hotmail.com

Meh the episode didn't work for me. Britney's peak was a few years ago, arguably an appearance by Lady Gaga or Katy Perry would be more interesting. The songs didn't connect with the story either.

I'm also against the appearance of big stars in general. It's all a gimmick and takes away from the characters and their storylines.

Am I the only one that thinks Will Schuester is terrible and should be axed immediately?

After these two episodes, I sort of thought, has Glee peaked too soon???
