Hi I was wondering does anyone know somewhere that measures bra sizes correctly. I recently lost 4 and half stone to be told when getting measured the bits hanging out of bra under my arms were fat:confused:!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been to the usual larger stores to leave with an over priced bra that doesn't fit I would appreciate any recommendations thanks.

    Hi there

I went through same after losing my weight ...

My Bra size changes everytime i get measured ...

I go into what I call an older womans shop and get measured ... they have a pretty nice selection of Bras ....

I have tried M&S and Debanhams but I really dont think they are good at measuring ....

Have had great measuring experiences in both Arnotts and Clerys. Reasonable ones in Brown Thomas Cork - not in Dublin, too many young pretty things in the lingerie department when you really need an older experienced lady.

Also there's a place on Oliver Plunkett St in Cork.

Bramora on Stephen's Green gets good reviews but I have not been.

I think House of Fraser in Dundrum are very good. Arnotts and Brown Thomas are fine.

Have to contradict on Bramora - was there (a couple of years ago) and the girl hadn't a clue. Bella Lusso in Mayo are good. I have been spoiled by Bravissimo in England though - wish they were in Ireland.

I would suggest a visit to Pauline in initamate lingerie on Tara st. I have lost over 4 stone and really dont have a clue what size I am and all the shops down here in the sticks have come up with odd sizes and I find I dont have any realy comfy bras at the moment. As well as a pain it is costing me a bomb.

CONGRATULATIONS ON LOOSING SO MUCH WEIGHT

Seriously well done. i think marks are the best in mary street or liffey valley. give yourself plenty of time and they will measure you and then see how different bras fit. they really spend time with you. always try on a top over the bra to get a better idea of the fit. when you do get some bras always hand wash them. well done again

I'm not a big fan of M&S measuring. Got measured earlier this year and bought a good few bras at the size she told me, bigger back and smaller cup than I'd ever been. Tried them and they were fine for a few wears but not much support now, have to tie them at the tightest at the back (even ones I've only worn once or twice) and feel very droopy at the front.

Think she didn't measure properly and I've gone back to wearing older bras (including M&S ones). Going to London soon so going to make an appointment in Bravissimo because I've heard so many good things about them.

Congrats on losing all that weight by the way!

This was in the classifieds in the Irish Times today, is it really good? I see it's by appointment only? I have to say, it's ridiculous the way each shop tells you a different size, so frustrating! I've never once been happy with any of my bras :(

M&S measure for M&S sizes (not the same as proper brands it seemed to me) and to be honest except for the granny bras everything over a C cup is rubbish. In my opinion. The pretty bras in the DDs are useless, no support.

You need to find the brand that works for you and stick to that. I pretty much only buy Chantelle. I can buy online without worry, I know they'll fit. Different brands do have different sizes.

I *literally* jump up and down in the dressing room, and do a bit of "I'm really drunk and giving it loads" dancing to see how it goes. Sure, if someone saw me I'd look insane, but hey - the bra gets a good check out.

Yeah, I find her really good. The only place I ever seem to get bras that are a good fit and comfy. I have not got in to her since last jan and need to again asap, hard to as I am nopt in Dublin but when I go I get 6 bras at a time. She stocked the godess bras and they are really nice fit. Give her a buzz and pop in, if you dont like you dont have to buy.

I have had this problem for years! It is so hard to find somewhere that can accurately measure you. I'm a 34GG so it's particularly important to wear the right size and get the support I need. Out of all the places I've tried Arnotts is by far the best, I highly recommend them. I travel up to Dublin especially for it :)

I would suggest you measure yourself. Bravissimo.com/co.uk have a guide to measuring yourself and I find it very accurate; they also have an excellent selection of bras and clothing, and you can always ring them up for very helpful advice.

M&S are useless; 3 different stores each gave me different readings! Arnotts used to be good but I haven't been there in years.

Well done on loosing the weight, it's a fantastic achivement!

Make sure the assistant measures you while you are wearing a bra. When you try on a bra sit or squat to see if it digs in anywhere and raise your arms to see if it rides up over your boobs.

Every woman on the planet is different. Most women have a different size on the left and right!!!

Good luck with the hunt. Personally I like the Gorgues range in Debenhams - not too pricey and very good support!
