Using maths to make running between men and women fair.

So using that formula Haile beat the world record by 101.26%.

He clearly didn't try hard enough as a youngster. :D

The marathon and longer is supposed to be the fairest distance as women are more equipped to survive longer run distances with extra fat stores.
The progression of the world recored for both sexes shows that the woman knock big chunks from the time while the men have just about hit the limit

To be more precise, ONE woman knocked a massive chunk off the marathon world record. And there is nobody else around at present that looks likely to come even close to her time.

What does 'fairly' even mean in this context? It might be that the women's 5000 metre world record is never faster than the men's record, and it might be that the marathon world record is never held by a red-haired Irishman who burns easily, and it might be that an athlete over 40 never sets the 100 metre record. What is unfair about any of that?

It depends what you mean by fair exactly.

If you mean will a woman ever hold the world record for the 100 metres, 5000 metres, marathon, triathlon etc...the answer is no.

    Fair??????????????????????????????????????????

    What is fair?

The male physical ability to run exceeds that of a women, get over it.

"Oh, I am so ashamed to be a man"

Will the bashing of straight, white men ever end?

Actually most male athletes are black.

Hmm, could a gay man ever hold the record record? (Tyson doesn't count).

Oh Rory McIlroy can play golf better than me, that's not fair. I think he should have four fingers amputated, then we'll compete fairly.

    Ha Ha @Raycun.

Is this going to descent into another thread where people looking to be offended drag it down.

There probably has been at least one who has held a record, but just wasn't out to anyone.
