Looking to start an epic bull**** "Band" consisting of as many people as possible. Doesn't matter what you play, what style or how well. So long as you own an instrument and an active imagination, or at the very least a big stick to bash off bits of metal junk or something.

Style will be musical in the loosest definition. Do not expect to get together to make a CD that Terrorizer will want to interview you for. Don't expect to get paid, gig, or any of that other professional stuff. Realistically, the best we could hope for is to waste time and have fun, and possibly play small venues with only about four people watching that don't have to be there because they work at the joint. It will be the most shambolic nonsense ever heard.

You are free to dress as innappropriately as you wish at all times. Chicks welcome (Tee hee).

I'm not far outside Limerick city, I have a couple of electric guitars, not much gear, and an acoustic.
Really I'm looking for the challenge and fun of playing in a group

Awesome, I'm on the outskirts of Limerick, in Newcastle West. I have a whole bunch of gear, so sharing is cool :) !

Cool :) I'll pm you a little later, I'm doing something right now so we can talk a bit more later, I'll try and help set up this whole schtick if I like it, lets see what we can do.

cool...female singer/guitarist-ish here. so what exactly is the aim of these shambolic jam sessions?

    Hey, CraziLadi,

I'm not exactly sure of the aim yet, but it all seems very experimental, Different sounds and feelings we can create with what we bring, He mentioned he has 2 other people who might be coming too.

I'll be meeting him this week, to talk a bit more, get a feel for him. I know the reason I'm going is to express my style of music with people. :)

and where is the jam gona be happening? I like any type of music...well actually death metal wouldn't really be my type of thing..but anything else really. I'm from out the Kilmallock direction but will be moving into to town shortly.

bass player here with a ton of other gear as well, might be interested

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 Delv3r

Awww, no Death metal? :( Well, I guess we might be able to do without it ;)
Nowhere's set in stone yet, but Joe seems perfectly okay with it being held at his place,

also, hey, ham n mustard :)

    Hi, all!

I'm out in Newcastle West. CraziLadi, the aim is very fluid, and subject to change depending on the feelings of everyone involved. For the moment, I'm seeing it as a raw creative outlet for people, everyone can bounce ideas off each other that wouldn't fly in your "Regular" "Band" setting. Like, you want to play your guitar with a saw whilst screaming? OK! That totally flies and is awesome so long as you're not breaking anything you don't own, hurting anyone that doesn't want to be hurt, and never, ever cross the streams. If at some point people want to bring it into a public forum, no problem! Believe it or not, there's a market for odd music, and I know a few people who could organise a night or two to play live. Don't think that you can't quit at any time, though, I don't want people to feel like there's a dependency to be involved always or even at all.

There's no exact standard for what I envision this to be, sound wise, but I suppose it would be something like if Attic Ted and Hati were both playing at the same time, and occasionally White Mice would join in. Think of it as completely free jazz, only you play how YOU feel, even if it doesn't fit in with the other sounds. We can all do exactly what we want.

Mr. Mustard, no bass players as of yet, but would be awesome to have someone who can bring in some nice LOW END! My own amp is a piece of junk practice amp, so feel free to bring your own, mine sounds like a woodlouse fart put through a half-broken DS-1 when it comes to low end. If you can't, we can just plug you right into my mixer and into the afore mentioned piece of junk.

Hi, all! With any luck, this Thursday a bunch of people will be down in NC.W, for coffee / tea, and hopefully some jamming! So, anyone who wants to come along just let me know! Also, what does everyone drink, tea, coffee or one of those fruity tea things? Just so I can be prepared for everyone :) !

Mackmuffin, it would be cool to have another percussionist on board! The more drums going on the better!

Any where after 12 is just great! That'll give me time to have coffee and flex in front of the mirror for an hour covered in baby oil.

Not to mention, Delv3r plays a MEAN guitar. Had a great time just screwing around and getting to know each other, and it'd be great to get a whole bunch more people, make this thing a monster orchestra or something :D !

    Ah mush....

I'd be well up for this. Guitarist/Vocalist/Bassist/Drummer here, would be up for contributing my own "noise" to this monster session!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,443 ✭✭✭Bipolar Joe

Definitely looking for some bass in this. Can't have a monster musical project without some heavy-as-Hell bass, can you :D:D ?

    Hey, guys,

For some reason I thought mackmuffin was Ciara, the girlly girl down, from last time, she was the one with the good voice :P

Anyway, it'll be good to know when the nest one will be on so we can set up for it, might be best for the weekend but whatever suits everyone else I'll probably be fine with :D

I have a gig up in Cavan coming up soon, so I can't host anything until after that. How does the 23rd suit everyone? Enough time to free up your schedule and decide what you would like to bring and all that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,251 ✭✭✭Sandvich

Sounds ambitious, you should get a gaff down in Cork ;)

I like how you say dress inappropriately, as I would very much like to dress up as a witch or random video game/anime characters for the laugh. Though that's actually kind of appropriate to a lot of the music I make...

    Is this still going?

Bass player here would be very interested in this. Bit I doubt I will be joining unless you happen to be playing near Waterford or Kilkenny. Ah sure no loss anyway. Great idea though, sounds like great fun! Can you cover Jeff Waynes war of the worlds? :D
