seems they had a oireachtas committee about this with the Railway Safety Commission, the transcript isn't up in the site just yet

    Trevor Sargeant said
An un-roadworthy vehicle can land its owner in court. Yet, in spite of several warnings, Iarnród Éireann allowed the viaduct to remain unfit for purpose. I believe that those responsible must face the law.
Louth Senator Mark Dearey said: "It is now time for the Minister for Transport to review the various reports that have been completed on the viaduct collapse. He should identify those responsible for ignoring the warnings and for standing over a so-called safety system that used untrained inspectors within Irish Rail and the Railway Safety Commission – and he must act.
"Heads need to roll on this. And Minister Dempsey must demand them before we can be assured that a new, adequate safety regime is in place."

The IT headlines is Prosecutions possible

yes of course some people should be prosecuted but is the train driver really deserving of a bravery award for doing his job?

Perhaps some politicians should also be prosecuted for creating the RSC and not providing it with sufficient resources to physically inspect the railway?

transcript is there, this doesn't impress
RSC Mr. Gerald Beesley: With respect, because this predates my taking up

the person responsible for railway safety in 1997 is the same person responsible in 2010, don't start making excuses about not being there.
