I'm in the process of booking a week in Saalbach at the end of Jan,
Can anyone recommend any apartments/pensions or websites for booking places over there or even places to avoid..?

Also where is best to stay, the Saalbach area or Hinterglemm area? from the piste map Hinterglemm looks more central for lifts/pistes?

EIther is a great location as the lift access and the ability to get around the resort is incredible it is basically a big U shaped resort with a dog leg off to Leogang.

Leogang gets the most sun in the morning and its piste tend to be in the best condition early in the morning.

The Hinterglim end tends to be at its best in the afternoon. Best nightlife tends to be in Saalbach although one of the best apres bars the goatstall is in hinterglim

Couple of the ski schools have some great apartments to rent.

Is there much accommodation in Saalbach/Hinterglim that you can ski in and out of directly? Also thinking about Ischgl in this regard.

    Thanks

Practically the whole town of Saalbach is ski in/out, there are a lot of accommodations around the town so just look for something central, the later you leave it to book, the hard it will be to get something central.

I believe there are a number of other places you can stay around the valley that you can also ski in/out of, but they would not be very central to the town.

Also dependant on the conditions you can ski right down into the town.
