Ford EOLYS fluid for the DPF

Anyone know what the going rate is to refill a Ford 1.6 TDCi with its EOLYS fluid for the DPF regeneration? Are there any independents out there doing it, or is it main dealer only?

My wifes car has thrown the fault code indicating that it needs a top up (P2584) The problem with me doing the job is that the Ford diagnostic system (IDS) has to be used to update the ECU afterwards to make it aware that the fluid has been replenished. And for all of the gadgets and gizmo's out there, I don't have IDS, and clearing the stored fault code on it's own aint enough :o

Peugeot/Citroen also use eloys 176 which usally costs between €130-150 for 3 litres...

I wonder would launch or snap-on reset the system....

I tried to read an 05 focus (1.6 dv6) a few weeks ago with Peugeot planet but it would'nt pick up anything...

    just found this... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FORD-FUEL-ADDITIVE-REFILL-KIT-DPF-DIESEL-MODELS-/220673440331?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3361297a4b

Eloys is not like ad blue as it's used to reduce the burning temp of the soot built up in the dpf.

Be careful handling eloys as its pretty nasty stuff.

Thanks for that Row. The PSA stuff might be a bit different to that used in the Ford, but I aint 100% sure. I don't have a launch or a Snap on. A mate has an AutoBoss and he reckons it doesn't have the right functions to do the Ford either. He's looking into it though, as is another guy I know in the UK. He's checking the TSB's to see if there is a "workaround" to tricking the ECU into relearning the status of the EOLYS tank.......will let you know if he comes up with anything ;)

I'm not too worred though if it has to go to the main dealer - so be it if needs be :)

    No problem shamwari...;)
Maybe top it up yourself and pay the labour for resetting the dpf system.
The psa eloys is rusty in colour and also comes with a filling kit.

I wonder if you can actually use urine as a sub from ELOYS.

    Edit: Seems not. Oh well.

If it helps, I got the EOLYS refilled back in April in my S40 1.6d at a main dealer, cost €220 including fluid, labour and resetting the ECU. Same engine as the Focus so cannot imagine a Ford dealer charging more than that.

Bazz, can i ask what error msg was on your S40 when you had the EOLYS fluid topped up on your S40

I have an "Engine Service Urgent " alarm, dealer is telling me that topping up the ELOYS may clear it, if not the DPF filter is gonna need replacing.
Im thinging about removing the DPF and remapping the engine a hell of a lot cheaper than replacing it. but if you had the same alarm il might risk paying for the topup

Its dearer in a Ford than a Volvo as the kit is dearer.

The Ford kit is around €200-220 +vat

The Volvo kit which is 100% identical is only around €100 +vat.

    Volvo p/n 1161752

You still need to use the diagnostic pc to carry out the regen though.

I was quoted €220 with a volvo dealer today to top it up, and another €700 + labour if its the DPF itself.
this dam car has cost me so much in the last 6 months im trying to fix it as cheaply as possible.

No warning message on the dashboard for mine. I just got it topped up as there was no record of it been done in the car's service history or receipts. And I know your pain, I felt like I was spending money all the time on my S40, €100 here, €100 there but alot of it was wear and tear items.

I see you are based in Galway, Row who posted earlier in this thread is a mechanic and based somewhere in Galway too afaik, he knows the HDi engines inside out including the DPF and maybe able to do something for you. Drop him a PM.
