Mileage Rates

Does anyone know the average mileage rate paid by companies in Ireland.

I need to submit about 5K miles of expenses and company does not have a formal expenses policy.

What rate should I charge to be fair to everyone.

I get 0.82 cent per mile.

I get €0.75 per mile but this is for occasional travel, training, alarm calls etc.

fairest??? Tha maximum rate you can get is the civil service rate, otherwise there's a tax liability on the rest.

In my place it deppends on engine size, Idrive a 1.4 & get 0.62 cent per kilometer - it's private sector by the way.

I hope you and your company are aware of the tax liability, and if not you never get audited!

I have a company car, fuel card etc. My tax, insurance, tyres, services etc are paid for by the company. I've been told that its more benefical for me to go the allowence route. However I would have to buy my own car, than theres insurance, tax, diesel, wear and tear, servicing, keeping receipts and submitting expence shhets etc. How can this be more benefical to me??? Or am i missing something. I do about 35km to 50km a year.

For that mileage you would need to be getting a massive allowance to make it worth your while. The maintenance is going to be a lot never mind the problems that crop up unexpectedly.

Also with that mileage you're probably only paying circa 100 quid a month in tax depending on car.

Can anyone tell me what the equivalent 'mile' rate is to the civil service 59.07 cent per km?? Would I be correct in thinking it is 1.0704 cent per mile? Thanks
