Heating element gone on dishwasher

We've had our dishwasher for 8 years. The heating element is not working. I've searched the Net for spares and I found an element at a cost of £93 sterling. Now, to get somebody in to replace this element would probably cost €100.

However, I don't know if this will be worth the money because if it fails again there will be further costs! Am I better off to buy a new dishwasher? Just wondering if any of you have had this experience.

The reason I'm so hesitant is because my work colleague's fridge wasn't working, so she called in a repairman at a cost of €100 - only for the fridge to break down again. So she bought a new fridge.

    Hi, Knighted. It's a NEFF S5443X2GB/17.

I would usually reccommend a new dishwasher at that age,but Neff are great machines. That said, nothing lasts forever,if it were me I'd get a new one. See what knighted thinks,I see that he repairs machines.

Bought a new one, a Belling this time.

I'm heartbroken over having to dump what was otherwise a perfect dishwasher, but what can one do:(

Was that an integrated or free standing model?
