Itchy bed:(

    Hi all,
I'm being driven demented by itching during/after sleeping.
I've searched Boards for info but have found nothing conclusive.

    Info:
    No pets in the house
Clean bedroom, all timber floors, no soft furnishings, pretty spartan.
Have washed all bed clothes in 95 Celcius wash with bleach, aired and ironed them.
Same procedure for duvet and pillows.
I regularly change the sheets and turn the mattress.
Have a good HEPA vacuum cleaner.
Have vacuumed the curtains, wardrobes and lamp fittings.
Have removed all items from under the bed.
Have steam cleaned and ironed the mattress completely
Have vacuumed the bed frame including the seams and underneath.
Have disinfected the floors and any furniture.
I shower before going to bed.
The bite marks are tiny pin-prick sized red marks.
    I don't think it scabies.

    What could it be:
I really don't think its bed bugs. I've examined every seam of the mattress/frame and the bites don't sound consistant with bugs.
I am allergic to dust mites but they don't bite and I have taken the above steps to deal with them in an otherwise very clean room.
Could it be fleas - they'd have to be microscopic as I've searched for them?
Could it be some other form of allergy?
What other insects (if they are the cause) could they be (in Ireland)?

    Decisions:
I don't want to go to a Doctor yet without having a good idea what the cause is mainly as I can't afford it; or he'll recommend the above steps or forward me to a dermatologist or something.
I don't want to get pest contollers in for the same reasons.
I'm considering freezing the bed clothes; don't know if this will help.

    thanks all

    Hi gahsux

I am afraid we cannot offer medical advice or attempt diagnosis.
If you have tried all the usual methods of ridding your bed of mites and are concerned you may have an allergy or some other issue then you should make an appointment with your GP.

    Best of luck
    Ickle
