Anyone got one or know someone who does ?
    Good buy ?
Is the Elegance model the highest spec'd model ?
What are the Co2 emissions on them also, do they fall under the new favourable road tax bracket ?

There were two versions of Skoda Superb, old model from 2002 to 2008 and new model from 2009 onwards, which model are you referring to?

Ok, Elegance is the top of the range model and all the diesels have fairly low motor tax:

Is there much room in the boot?

I've seen one of the new ones, the boot has a double hinge, so you can open it like a saloon or open the whole tailgate like a lift back / hatchback. Huge boot, lots of room inside too.

    Theyre FANTASTIC yokes!!

I know a guy with an S-class who bought a Superb for the wife and now says he never uses the Merc. Just parks it in the boot of the Superb for when he feels like being in something medioce.

And what do Geore Clooney, Mark Webber and Bono have in common??? Yep they all have Skoda Superbs!!!! Not to mention Will.i.am, Kate Perry...
Posh and Becks have TWO! His n' hers 1.9TDIs in beige and aquamarine blue!

You could definately fit 2 bodies in there. 4 or 5 if you're chopping them up.

Bland and boring is in high demand, delivery time for the Superb is anything from 16 - 20 weeks at present.

To you maybe, perhaps everyone has different priorities when choosing a car?

From now on, the new Superb greenline will have CO2 emissions of just 114g/km which is a superb result, that means €104 road tax!

Both of which are outsold in India by the Hindustan Ambassador, but so what? If you want a Golf / Focus market share admiration thread go start one - other than some strange psychological need to post a piece of off-topic automotive trivia, where's the connection between those cars, your post and OP's request for information on the new Skoda Superb?

ohhhhh i feel like i'm being robbed blind now having to pay €52 more for my Superb Greenline. Still, think i'll suck it up on the odds that the auld VAG 1.9 PD being less problematic than the new 1.6 CR.

I chose it over a insiginia, mondeo and avensis as for €5k+ less i got a higher spec car compared the models of those i was looking at.* Also because it is extremely roomy and comfortable. The dual opening boot is great for when ye need to bring bulky items like prams, golf clubs & trolleys etc.
Its not a rocket but a great cruiser. Never had a problem overtaking with it. You just learn where the power bands are and gear down accordingly.

Test drove the 170bhp DSG Elegance. Lovely car.

*scrappage scheme back in January when skoda had a great incentive on top of the gov scheme. might be different now.

This is the only Superb worth having, which of course wont be available here.

    Proper engine - 3.6 V6
    Sounds good - check
    Good Gearbox - DSG
    Not FWD - yep, AWD
Features - the 3.6 gets 75 (!) options as standard...

    In Estate form, naturally.

I'd take the Passat R36 instead for the extra power!

I sat in one the other day and was very, very impressed.
For a start, you can't see the outside, from the inside, so, that's a +.
The spec and interior was very nice, and impressed too, so that's a +.
And as you can see that from inside, here, have another +.

    +++ all round then........:D

Ryanair fly to all manner of places: nothing to stop you going wherever IT is, buying one, and driving it back.

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

If you buy a superb everybody will know you're a boardsie

so this could be a major influence on your decision !!

I would stay away from the 2.0 TDI (140) - weak oil pump. Same engine in the passat i think....
i don't know if this issue has been resolved in new engines or not, but it was a real issue for the passats.

I think I read on boards somewhere that they are faster than a speeding bullet, more economical than walking, more spacious than outer space and they have more audi and VW bits than any audi or VW car. If you buy one you will develop tourettes where all you keep talking about is badge snobs. Also the new 1.2 TDGTIVFSI model is more than enough to pull a 2 ton car for the average driver.

What about the 170hp one? Would that be the same also?

I don't think so, AFAIK, it was the 2.0tdi (140) with the weak oil pump
