hey, just happened to stumble on your post. MY mate is member here and I'm in total fitness caslteknock. I've spent the last few saturdays and sundays here as a guest and I'd join easily if It was nearer to where I live (no traffic on weekend when Ive been going). its a very nice set up, running track, tons of cardio machines and on saturday morning I especially like jogging whils looking out at the golf course, yeah its nice and well worth joining. a little limited in terms of weights but that depends on how heavy a lifter you are, its fine for me anyway and i lift reasonably heavy. something else I like is that on saturday or sundays anyway, we can go down into the basketball court and do some boxing and skipping or set up a circuit and nobody says anything. youd be amazed at how many gyms frown on self supervision. If i lived closer, id join and the dressing rooms are very clean and quite stylish, not that it matters but its a nice touch. showers are all cubicles with doors, youd be amazed at how blatant Gay men can be in open shower rooms, staring at your balls and arse, trust me it happens. you can wash your balls in private ha ha ha ha ha. maybe it's just cos im super attractive, I hadnt thought of that!! food for thought.

One thing to consider very carefully, something I cannot help you one is peaktime usage, this is between 5-8.30pm in most gyms. I havnt been at this time so you may want to take a tour at this time and suss it out!!
lovely polish girls working there, who for some reason are not the type that Skowl, theyre a bit of laff and cheery enuf even early on saturdays.

i was a member there a few years ago. the jacuzzi was regularly broken, the steam room was good, never used the pool - looked good - there was always a life guard too. it was never too busy but the selection of both machine and free weights was small. there was carpet in the changing rooms which stank, would you put a carpet in your bathroom and step out on it after a shower?? i dont understand why they had carpet. there was a couple of very hot gym instructors up there though which made up for that a bit lol :)

    Hi

I'm a member there for over 3 years and wouldn't think of moving. Had a good look around and castleknock hotel was the only other one that tempted me, but for much the same money there was a greater range of activities for me - suppose depends what u r looking for? Reception area a bit OTT for a gym, but impresses first timer and visitors?

All the team from Reception on are sound like has been said, and the cleaners r always on the go (well it is pretty big) so that's not an issue. Haven't seen sauna etc out of order too often, but annoying waiting for repairs - patience not my strongest point :). Changing room carpets seem to be getting replaced in places (at least in gents), but wouldn't be a problem if plonkers would follow the signs requesting u to dry in shower area.

I use it on and off peak and never consider it crowded, at worse you might have to change the order of a workout. Plenty of equipment, linked to online tracking system which is handy for keeping logging work as you go. Weights more than enough for me, and good plus is indoor track and gym area for football, basketball, badminton, etc. Good range of classes/lessons/coaching as well, outdoor floodlit tennis courts and pool area good, 3 lanes most of the time, maybe a bit busy with children @ w/ends, but adult only times at the end of session if that's a worry.

Not sure if there are any deals available and for two it's not an insignificant amount of dosh so u should try it out as a guest if they can't do a day membership/trial? If u don't know anyone there, pm me or if you have any specific queries.

Biggest drawback for me is getting caught at Clonsilla train crossing going/coming, but can't blame Crucnch for that!! Defo worth trying.

Memeber for 2 years, only complaint I can make is the lack of mirrors for checking form when lifting.
