Tech support told me to put "pin" in wrong hole for sim card insertion. Help!

Hey, finally got my shiny new iPhone 4 today. Rang tech support but initially they directed me stick a pin (which I did!) into the WRONG hole - the hole for the noise cancelling mic on top of the phone instead of the SIM release hole at the side.

I assumed the guy knew what he was talking about so I did, as instructed. SIM is in the phone fine now, but I'm worried in case I damaged the mic.

Should I be in a panic? Rang Apple directly, they said not to worry.

unless you really put force behind the pin when you put it in the wrong hole, I cant imagine you'll have done any damage.

No real force thankfully! Phew, thanks rymus, wonder is there any way to test the mic? Maybe I'm over-thinking this now in fairness!

Lucky this isn't After Hours! :D

Putting a SIM into the iPhone is far from intuitive. They definitely should improve the instructions.

Personally I thought it was blindingly obvious where the SIM went. But I see where tech support went wrong.
