I know this isn't technically to do with modified motors but thought this was the best spot to find someone with the knowledge.
I want to put a few led strips in the back of the van for a bit of extra light and wire them off the boot light.I can do this no bother but was looking online for what cable I would need for them and on ebay I could find plenty of 12v cable but its all different amps. Does anyone know which cable I should use? There will probably be two or three strips with 24 or 48 leds in each, probably wired in parallel as they will be going different ways.
    Thanks.

Look for something like 16awg speaker cable and it'l be more than sufficient, your not going to have anything overloading or in flames with them strips.

I have 2 in my footwells that give red ambient light and the cable that comes on them in thread thin, there's shag all current draw with them.

If you havnt bought the strips yet ebay is your friend for them

Cheers eireal. Wasn't sure if speaker wire would do the trick or not. I have a few of them used as under press lighting in the kitchen at home so I have a few coming from HK for this job.

One LED typically draw 20 milliamps which is really feck all.

Any motor factors will provide a cable stranded cable suitable for peanuts. Just make sure its on a fusable link if it shorts it'll draw allot more.
