Is PSN down?

I can't sign in at all, getting error codes, can't connect to PSN. The Playstation website took ages to load and at the top it says PSN is Offline. Balls. Anyone hear anything about this?

Yeah, tried to log on about 10 mins ago, keep getting error code 80023017..apparently it's undergoing maintenance. Don't know when tis back...Just have to play the XBox for the night.

Actually cant log onto playstation.ie from the laptop either

I thought it was just me!! I can't log on on the computer either.

I just downloaded the latest system update and then tried to log on. Did the problem only arise for you guys after the system update??

phew thank got its the psn thats down.i thaught someone had hacked my account lol.is this anything to do with this new update 3.50 as i just installed it this morning.

Yeah, I found the answer by reading the thread.


I'm new to PS3, but doesn't 10 hours downtime seem like an awful long time? I don't recall ever having such a length of downtime with the xbox (maybe I just missed them)

Yeah usually it isnt this long like a few hours so this maintenance must be a big one!

It's an unusually long downtime from Sony, cant remember it being this long before, hope its for something new coming up.

Am I the only one sick of all the maintenance being done to the PSN? It seems every second Sunday I have a day off it's down and yes 10 hours is a bloody long time. It wouldn't enen be too bad if there were a bit of notice. Sony have all our bloody e-mail addresses(not sure if that's how you spell the plural) so would it be too hard to just send out a mass e-mail? Is that too much to ask for a warning?

I can sign into my PSN Account when i log in, but when i tried to go onto the PS Store, igot the message "This is not available in your country/region"
I seen on IGN yesterday that Sony announced this was gonna happen in a press release so wasnt too bothered by it.

Was yours cleared after logging on AFTER it came back or like me did you log in when it was down and have it wipe your saved password?

Lucky for me, i only use one of three passwords, most prob like me too used fake emails to just get an account going, so could be locked out of their accounts and need to make new ones.

I'm still getting the message "This service is not available in your country/region" when i try to go to the store, and when i try to go into Account Management i'm getting "An error has occured (80023017)"

My fault, meant to say the last maintenance was a few weeks ago as opposed to a few days ago! But they do tend to go down for the best part of the day, or at least the waking day :pac:! Though, in fairness to Sony, they do give notice through channels like the PSN blog if you keep an eye on them (I usually only check on Wednesday to see what the update brings). Xbox Live I think send either emails or Live messages to inform of downtime well in advance.

same thing happened to me, so i reset the default settings hoping that would work somehow obviously it didn't. So i switched it off in disgust.

Has anyone any idea how to reset the password? or do i have to create a new account?

When you're trying to login, there will be a "Forgot Your Password?" option. Click that.
