Port Aventura VS Lanzarote VS Santa Ponsa

    Hey all,

Want to book a holiday in the next few weeks. There are a few of us going and as a result, there are arguments over where we will end up.

Wondering if anyone has any advice that has been to these places?

Lanzarote is working out most expensive, whilst Port Aventura is working out least expensive. The names of Places I've been given are "Brisasol Arquus Apartments" in Salou (Port Aventura) and "Holiday Centre" in Majorca (Santa Ponsa). Doesn't say anything on th etravel agent sheet about Lanzarote, but I'd assume its Puerto Del Carmen.

Was in Lanzarote last year and thought it was a nice place with good weather, but found it got boring fast. As a result, I'm not too keen to go back this year. Others in the group are, though.

Port Aventura is where I'd most like to go, as I've never been there and it's supposed to have great theme parks and such to help pass the days. However, I did read some nasty comments in a thread I found in a search. However, the thread was dated 2006 so I don't know if it'll have changed much at all.

Haven't really heard anything at all about Santa Ponsa as I haven't really looked it up just yet.

Just wondering if anyone here has first hand experiences of one or more of these places and could share ye're thoughts with me? Would greatly help decide where we will be on holiday this year.

Thanks a lot in advance! :)

never been to santa ponsa and seeing as you have been to lanzarote before then yeah salou is not a bad bet

it gets alot of stick on these pages but i found it grand, most of the booze-brigade will have finished up for the season now anyway, port aventura is a great themepark but be warned it gets very busy in the runup and after halloween (stupidly so), waits for the big rides can easily exceed 90mins, if you get bored of salou its only an hour by train to barcelona which is one of europes great cities imo, in fact i would highly recommend taking in a trip to barca while in salou even if only for a day or two

Having been to all three places it really depends what you are after OP. Lanzarote is what it is, lovely island but once or twice would be enough IMHO. Santa Ponsa is swamped with plastic paddies, but take nothing away from Majorca itself which is a fine place to visit.

I have been to Port Aventura twice, great park and the on site hotels are pretty decent. I wasn't mad on Salou itself tho, found it pretty bland compared to other resorts and not a place I could see myself spending much time in. Nightlife wasn't the best tbh.

Dunno why you have narrowed your search down to these three destinations, which are all much of a muchness IMHO. I would let price decide.

Thanks for the comments guys. Have settled on Salou as it at least has Port Aventura to keep us occupied for a day or two.

Anyone got any comments about it? I know, as said above, it gets a lot of schtick on here, but lots of people i've heard of going seem to enjoy it. It's apparently more likely to rain in Salou compared to the other two, but sure that's a gamble anyway, i suppose.
