Exactly - if you're not paying Sky any money any more then you won't get it.

Free but wont tempt me to buy, paying enough to them - even more now since they put the price up along with their UK tax rates!!!!!!!

This was posted in the xbox forum already but it's worthwhile for anyone looking to get sky sports cheap:

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=68198362&postcount=734

€30 for a 3 month subscription to sky player. It's fairly good value compared to sky/upc charge of €33 per month.

None of the skysports channels open on my UPC:(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,632 ✭✭✭✭okidoki987

    Typical of Sky.
They have a free day when there's no decent football on (English or Spanish)
and a week before Ryder Cup.
Why didn't they have it next week - Chelsea/Arsenal & Ryder Cup?

But I have saved a copy of the open day terms of agreement and seems like on the one hand UPC customer can view then on the other they cant, very confusing altogether...

It says on their site that UPC viewers get it, and when I rang up UPC there was an automated message saying it'll work from 12, but still not working...

even on the UPC site there's an ad for the open day yet the link doesn't work (it just takes you to the TV packages)

    bloody awful altogether!

You expect them to give you their top programming for free? Be grateful for what they have given you for free. You are not paying for it.

I have all 4 Sky Sports channels now, although SP1 has the "I'm sorry you have not subscribed to this channel" message splashed across the middle of the screen. UPC couldn't find their own arse with both hands.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 452 ✭✭rocksolid

all sky sports channels working on mine with upc. no msgs across the screen...

I've got 2 UPC decoders - so I checked the one upstairs.

Model No. DC221KN decoder - all 4 channels, no splash screens, all good.
(Older) Model No. Di300-N - splash message on SP1, other SP2/3/4 are ok.

I've powered on/off the older decoder, but it makes no difference.

    Sky are no mugs.

Do you seriously expect them to give you one of their biggest Sundays of the year for free?

They let you see a free Sunday when they have very little to show, then they hit you with adverts to entice you to subscribe.

Obviously, but at the same time it made me think No way I'm paying for this when 9 out of 10 Sundays there's only this **** on. "Super Sunday" my Arse.

I tuned in for a few minutes and the guide said it was goals on sunday, but it looked like soft porn.
Some red-faced old guy was topless for some reason...
    Switched off then.

That was David Ginola. Former Spurs and Newcastle player. Kammy showed it to take the piss out of him.
